Not to mention pushing the mouse towards the spider. You deny them that alternative just for your own sadistic recreation. YOU ARE T.I.T.H.E.A.D.S.
Ok. The next time I feed my spider a mouse, I'll just fly them both down to South America and let them roam the jungle until they naturally run into each other. Or maybe I should just throw my spider down your pants and let him bite your small shriveled penis. Hopefully the venom will be enough to make it fall off. That would prevent you from breeding and producing children just as stupid as you. I really wish humans had natural predators so that idiots like you would be picked off. Shithead.

wow beautiful spider! i love T.blondi! but why are people so intent on saying that its bad to feed mice to them? its natural selection and the more fit survive and so the circle of life moves on
because it's risky. They can be killed easily if something goes wrong and for a species thats known for having chronic molting problems, it's not worth the risk. Too much calcium (if you feed them mice strictly) can impede their molt possibly resulting in premature death.
That spider is equally as alive as that mouse. Just because you're scared of it doesn't mean that it doesn't deserve to live. There is nothing that can be eaten that wasn't once alive, including plants. Until you're willing to starve to death for your cause, I'm un-interested in your plight with watching this.
i agree with you and lawn0gome, great way to put it, sould be pholisphers, sick f these FUCKING HIPPIES AND THERE CRAPPY OPINIONS NO ONE LOVES YOU BUT THE TREES YOU FUCK
That's an odd assumption, where did I say I only care because the prey is a mammal? I don't think it's cool at all, eating is a necessity. Also, I only watched the video 2x, including once just now. I don't get the point you're trying to make? If the human was 'caring' he'd release the spider back into the wild where it belongs, and not keep it in a cage only a few times its size..
You're right of course I can't argue with that. Does that make it alright? The fact that we're breeding these animals for our own entertainment? For all I know, that spider doesn't care if it's in a 2x2 cage or the endless expanse of the amazon
Tell you what, apply the rules to a polar bear, I don't know if you know but Florida Sea World have 'acquired' their own Polar Bears. Considering how far a Polar Bear usually travels during a lifetime, these things were in tiny habitats, something I'd expect for animals less than half their size. Say these Polar bears had a cub. Should this cub remain captive all its life, for our entertainment? Or do you think it might be 'happier' released into the wild?
of course it would be happier in the wild. of course locking up polar bears or any large animal is bad. but we're talking about a friggin spider. remember you were pissed because the spider was given a mouse to eat. uhm.... polar bears? what?
'Pissed' is a bit strong, making a point is what I'm trying to do here! The Polar bear is there to introduce to you the 'bigger' picture as it were. The point is that all these animals ultimately exist simply for the sake of our own petty entertainment, and are captive throughout their lives as a result of that. I know I don't want to be trapped in my house all my life, only to be let out when someone else allows it.
You acknowledge that the animal would be happier, so why do the rules change for them? Is it really ok for us to exploit our advantage over them in this manner, or should we really just leave them alone, and only observe them in their natural habitat if we really feel we have to see them?
Interesting, what you're saying is highly exploitative, and you're suggesting that the spider, if allowed to leave its cage at its own whim, would not want to because it isn't aware that it is captive? What about the mouse desparately trying to escape, do you not think it might also be aware of its captivity?
the spider wouldn't "want" it or not : spiders don't "want" things. it would just carry on with life, unaware that it was in captivity and unaware that it is now free. maybe it will die due to the fact that it was always given its food and never actually had to hunt for it. that mouse was indeed aware of its captivity, but it was used to feed the spider.
I didn't know that! I'd love to know where it is you discovered this? I don't have a problem with you being right, but a source that validates what you've written would help enlighten me, thanks!
my source is i love to study spiders, and it doesn't take a genius to see their whole existence is based on instinct. you're making it sound like they are intelligent creatures that can think. well they're not. and to Tistaz, are you 6?
I see, so an assumption then. Not trying to take anything from what you've said, you may be right, but it's a maybe not a definitely. It would be interesting to design an experiment that tried to investigate whether or not creatures like spiders are aware, or even care if they're 'trapped'...
Don't be assholes. What about 1000000.. creatures hunted alive EVERY DAY in the nature? and yes this is natural, these spiders are known to eat FULLY grown-up mice in the wild. They are also know to take and eat small birds from their nests... I guess that in the wild the pray dies painless, and than the spider gets to feast..? Come on, don't be so PETA-rded. There is always a hunter and there is always a pray. I know that it seems cruel from times to times, but that's just the way things happen
mmanpratice and all your spider hating chums. we know you are arachnophobic that much is clear however it is natire and u'r just plain stupid if u think it is not. The tarantula keepers and myself will ingore you spider haters from now one because ther is no point listening.
There's a significant difference between pray being hunted in the great indifferent expanse of nature's 'wild' and pray being handed over on a plate by a cruel human. That's not nature, that's human intervention, and let's be honest, the bigger picture is that that mouse suffered so we could all say, and I quote "coooooooool" (jonbadboy1). Go on, argue with me
The people who are against it are probably soft little people who are arachnaphobic and are scared of a spider that looks intimidating but would rarther run away from u than bite u. Long live T's and T keepers.!!!!!!!
If you are offended by this video there's no reason to watch it. And for people who say that this doesn't happen in narure and the mouse has a chance in the wild then u are completely and utterly stupid. A mouse when confronted with a Theraphosa blondi has no chance in the wild or in captivity. If it was cricket you wouldn't complain. All animals have the same rights. So if it is cruel to feed a T a mouse then it is cruel to feed a T a cricket.
Because it poses tremendous risk to the spider. One bite/scratch from the mouse as it attacks can fatally wound the spider. Mice are bad diet choice since they're far too rich in calcium and its not needed for invertebrates. Calcium stores in their exoskeleton in which they need to break open when they molt out. If you keep feeding mice too often, the exoskeleton becomes rock hard and they can't molt properly and can die as a result.
I think the problem here is that there are plenty of options for feeding that spider that do not involve the pain the mouse or whatever goes through. The problem is how people really get off on watching these things. I've been browsing the subject to see if anyone used a still born or frozen, thawed food source. Seems its a bunch of disturbed individuals who get off on watching something else get tortured.
I don't get all these idiots on youtube. Thats what it would do in the wild and theres nothing wrong with feeding them mice. If you don't like it then don't watch.
u sick fuking wankers "o my god i cant watch this what the fuck u thing your fucking good shud be feeding it stuff like flys or shit u messed up pricks SUCK MY FAT FUCKING BALLS
It's funny. If he were feeding it locusts or crickets you would have no problem with it. Yet because it's a cute fuzzy little mouse you're all offended. Next time your cramming that burger down your throat remember "the fighting chance" that cow had in the slaughter house.
i dont see why people always feel so bad for the mouse, its fullfilling its roll in the food chain and there are literally billions of em on this planet, there called pests for a reason :P haha, i dunno people need to look at everything from both sides before they should open there mouths, like yeah, the mouse probably felt some pain but only till it died, and i think getting eaten by spider 3 times your size is an honorable death, oh mouse i knew ye well *salutes* :P
you're an idiot. Birdeaters don't pose any "grave" danger. Their poison is less potent than a honey bee, and they never strike in defense. The only "grave" danger is idiots like you "loose" in society.
For a spider like a large blondi, one look at the size and power of its fangs will show it is not designed to catch small insects. For other smaller spiders, insects are more appropriate.
did u know that 1:BECAUSE its a goliath doesnt mean it needs mice to live. 2: did u know that u can try em on a dead mouse from a pet shop and use that to imitate live prey by wiggling it (its alot safer 4 the spider) and more humane) and3: too much mice for your spider will give it trouble in future molts, insects like crickets and locusts are the main prey of spiders!
live mice are healthier, its not a human being its an animal. who said anything about feeding it too much mice? you only need to feed them once or twice a month
i know from previous experience that too much food especially mice can cause our goliath to go into a near death state. and how are live mice healthier? by freezing meat you are killing any living organism in it, let it be mites or fleas living in the mouses fur, or bacteria even, god you should have learnt all this stuff at school
@Lozzaviolin they won't eat dead food as there eyesight isn't very good so they hunt using vibration so the food has to be moving for it to know its there

Long live T's and T keepers.!!!!!!!

and by the way nice T and nice vid dude. 5 stars definetely

So if it is cruel to feed a T a mouse then it is cruel to feed a T a cricket.

i got a turtle i feed him live fish so why is it bad to feed a spider live mice its only a mouse ther not running short
shanghaibobtown 4 years ago
@shanghaibobtown

Could you tell me where you got that tarantula and how much it costs? I want one of my own. :D

I don't get all these idiots on youtube. Thats what it would do in the wild and theres nothing wrong with feeding them mice. If you don't like it then don't watch.

u sick fuking wankers "o my god i cant watch this what the fuck u thing your fucking good shud be feeding it stuff like flys or shit u messed up pricks SUCK MY FAT FUCKING BALLS
georgepoulton 4 years ago

The only "grave" danger is idiots like you "loose" in society.

trizzHHS 5 years ago
For a spider like a large blondi, one look at the size and power of its fangs will show it is not designed to catch small insects. For other smaller spiders, insects are more appropriate.
nomadofthehills 5 years ago
hey John! you tell these ppl!
halomega3000 5 years ago
did u know that 1:BECAUSE its a goliath doesnt mean it needs mice to live. 2: did u know that u can try em on a dead mouse from a pet shop and use that to imitate live prey by wiggling it (its alot safer 4 the spider) and more humane) and3: too much mice for your spider will give it trouble in future molts, insects like crickets and locusts are the main prey of spiders!
Heatseeker872591 5 years ago
live mice are healthier, its not a human being its an animal. who said anything about feeding it too much mice? you only need to feed them once or twice a month
therunningman09 3 years ago
i know from previous experience that too much food especially mice can cause our goliath to go into a near death state. and how are live mice healthier? by freezing meat you are killing any living organism in it, let it be mites or fleas living in the mouses fur, or bacteria even, god you should have learnt all this stuff at school
Heatseeker872591 3 years ago
that was intense.
