  • Lovely, but the tempo is too slow for my taste.

  • @gustopheles I must disagree, this is quite enough for any Lucia. This is live and sung in the higher key, so Madam Devia has already sung lots of high Cs, and Es too I'm sure. I'd be too honoured to witness such a performance to even begin criticizing! I don't know what more you seek, perhaps you want some verismo? I'd prefer this over any screaming sliding spinto with unintelligible Italian. There is enough "expression" here in the coda and ornaments.

  • @gustopheles It's a high F! It's the original key

  • I heard her in the early nineties at the Met and found her OUTSTANDING!.She should be the gold standard for all the Lucias we hear today.

  • Devia is so SOLID and technically excellent. You never heard poorly produced, pushed, unfocused,or strained notes. Her consistent excellence is one of the most impressive things about her.

  • My oh my! Devia is so great

  • This is how I like to hear the Mad Scene sung. Beautiful voice, excellent technique. She allows the music to provide the drama and interprets it convincingly. No acting or emoting here. In short, a Master Class.
