  • i have loved AFI since 2004 this song made me smile idk why i geuss i just love this song XD the guitar riffs are fucking kick ass

  • Anyone else notice how the 336 version said (this self mutilation) and this version says (I self mutilate)? I hope that wasn't auto-biographical.. D:

  • I love this song, it's so delicate

  • Definitely a masterpiece showpiecing the true passion behind A Fire Inside.

    ♥ AFI♥

  • Why does this song remind me of The Crow movie?

  • @killer600000 Because the Crow is a bad ass film, and this is a bad ass song.

  • nah its "to insinuate"

  • FUCK YEAH

  • Davey should write a book, this is beautiful, he would make an amazing author.

  • @JadePugetRox Totally agree. If he were to ever write a book, I'm 99% certain that Im gonna read it all in one go, no matter the number of pages :P

Please, Davey, write a book already !!!

  • @skater13sean

    Where did you find this?

  • Three dislikes have three inch dicks

  • LOVE IT!LOVE IT!LOVE IT! :d:D:D

  • LOVE IT!LOVE IT!LOVE IT! :d:D:D

  • This is one of my absolute favorite songs. So much raw emotion and amazingly contrived lyrics.

    Nothing else compares.

  • Absolutely Gorgeous

  • love this song

  • @HalenCross i agree! no wonder he was an english major at uc berkeley before he devited himself full time to afi!

    amazing writer!

  • whoaaa like this version :o

  • muito bom !!!!!!!!!

  • damn this is the demo version!

  • All of AFI's hidden tracks, bonuses, and b-sides kick major ass! This song is balls to the wall!

  • What album is this from?

  • @FroylanRuiz1 It was a bonus track on the UK Version of STS and I'm fairly sure a B-side on one of the singles everywhere else.

  • idk wut i wuld listen to if AFI never existed...

  • this is 100%

  • How come I can't find this on iTunes???

  • @omgpurplemangos101 It's on the UK version of Sing The Sorrow only. It can't be purchased. Really sucks, doesn't it? =/

  • Comment removed

  • @omgpurplemangos101 Thres a site called 4shared.com it is a file sharing site and is 100% free and legal.I just downloaded this song from there. You might wanna check it out!

  • @XtayXXbaybeeX14

Huh? How can a file sharing site be legal? I'm not saying it's impossible but I'm curious since authorities has made such a huge deal of proclaiming all file sharing (esp. music) 100% illegal.

  • "I laid down below the glitter adorned night, I silently sparkled my own way" is my favorite quote in a song ever. AFI's amazing.

  • I think this is kinda AFI's turning point. The defining moment that lead them to write sing the sorrow and eventually decemeberunderground.

  • @Honeyluvscake yea I totally noticed this too, it really clashes in the "this summer created those words" bit. But the guy has such an accurate voice the rest of the time that i can only presume it to be deliberate and holds some deeper meaning.

  • @knivesandforks Yeah, it creates a dissonance in the music that's usually associated with tension. The tension and release makes you hold on through the dissonant bits and makes the harmonies that much sweeter to the ear. *points at self* Music nerd. :)

  • I haven't heard this version since I was l=in like 9th grade, haha <3

  • The original demo version is much more satisfying to me.This just doesn't do it. It's too radio ready I think.Or maybe because I've been listening to the original for the past 6 or 7 years.

  • really?

    what part(s)? I really don't hear it

  • hmm this is not too bad.

i think i prefer the 336 version, but i like this one quite a bit as well

  • yeah, the lyrics are easy to confuse with the 2 different versions of the song... sts and 336 versions are completely different with the yells in the background. im not being a dick, its easy to mix em up.

  • sooo ture! but i love it!! <333

  • the intro reminds me of girls not grey

  • @AFIForever1 LOL ME TOO

  • Lyrics are wrong.

  • Said I can erase it for you dear :)

    Love it

  • The lyrics aren't 100% right, but this version of the song is a pain in the ass to find.. so kudos anyway!

  • Where part do i have wrong?

  • @skater13sean

The chorus to this version goes:

"I looked inside, (I) To find, (Wanted)

The one I sent away. (To excoriate)...."

instead of "(I wanted to insinuate)"

  • @skater13sean

It's Excoriate not Insinuate. It's Excoriation and Self Mutilation on the other version of this.

  • @skater13sean I'm fairly sure he says "to excoriate" instead of "to insinuate". Given the tone of the song and Davey's love of the use of words you don't hear everyday, I'm actually pretty confident that's what he says.

  • @Sothiamient }

im have the the original lyris and thi is perfectly righy

  • The guitar work in this song sounds so heavily influenced by The Cure...

  • hmm i wonder y? lol

  • better than the 336 version i think

  • No Davey is not gay or bi. Jade(guitarest and very close friend of Davey)said so himself. Look it up. But would it matter anyway though???? He is an amazing artist and so is the rest of the band. They started in 1991 with only Adam having a drumset and Davey having a good voice.

Eventualy they broke up. They got back together after the reunion concert in '98 I think. Then eventualy 2 band members left and Jade and Hunter joined. That is amazing!!!! Get off their backs guys!

  • Please stop.

  • Stop what exactly????

  • stop being a lil nerd who uses wikipedia to try to sound cool cuz they think people will be like wow he knows a lot about the band thats not cool its called a gruopie and groupies sleep together even if there guys thats ronch bud

  • ummm i think you should stop misinforming people and lying about knowing former band members.... which one are you claiming to know?? You're completely wrong about almost everything you wrote. They broke up after they all graduated high school and got back together after a reunion show in like 93... Hunter joined during the end of the Very Proud Of Ya tour.. and Jade didn't join until 98.. so yeah... i think blackadder733 was telling you to stop because your information was all wrong lol

  • The good news is that he likely didn't just look it all up, since it was all wrong.

  • Wow, you sound smart. *sarcastic voice*

  • I think 'raunch' is the word you're looking for.

When insulting someone, try not to sound less educated than they do.

  • I agree.

  • cool damn i forgot the cool punk songs of afi i can only remember he who laughs last and total immortal

isnt davey gay or bi srry somebody told me he was IS IT TRUE?

  • love this song! one of my favorite AFI songs by far <3

  • Wow, I really like this version and thanks a tone for posting the lyrics. You rock, thanks xD!!

  • hhhmmm i like 336 version better. this one is to pop sounding. i dont really like pop

  • i can see what you mean.. but better vocally here.

  • Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this song? I can't find it anywhere... =[

  • this song is a bonus track on the album 'Sing the Sorrow' by A.F.I. (only on GB edition), the whole track lasts 15 minutes ;D, it is awesome

  • I love the halftime feel around 2:58. Just an awesome part overall. Jade's guitar and the band's vocals as a group sound incredible there!

    AFI for life!

  • Hah, i noticed that too.

    Lol

  • OMG i have been looking for this song i nearly cried when i found out it was the one. someone tell me wear i can buy the e.p.!!please!!!

  • huevos esta bien chingona esta rola

  • There's a few lyrical differences.

Most people find one version and listen to it, and then look for the song elsewhere and unknowingly find the other version.

When you're expecting certain lyrics and hear other ones, it's kind of getting smacked in the face with a two-by-four.

    D:

  • yeah in the other version during the chorus davey instead says "I wanted this excoriation. I thrive on this self mutilation."

Also there's more background seeking like when he says "You gave the dark to me" the rest of the band echoes it.

There's probably more but those are what i first noticed listening to this version.

  • Infa t i just realised the 336 version is one of the vids on this profile. Check it out.

  • omg this song...flawless

  • this summer created a boy of abject misery =]

    god i love this band

  • I like the 336 ep version a lot better. but this one is good too

  • now the world

  • Yeah, my favourite part too. :D

  • FOREVER AFI!

  • "I've Been a Lonely One, I've Had This Whole World Drained From Me."<--Those lyrics mean the world to me, saved my life. Forever Grateful.

Till the Day I Die, A Fire Inside.

  • Oh thank God, the right lyrics.

If I see another video with "I excoriate", I'm going to scream.

  • LOOOVEEE this song so powerful

  • I was just going to say the same!

    i LOVE this fucking song.

  • I L O V E this song...like whoa.

  • i love the chorus so much for some reason

  • I think this is their most powerful song...atleast that is my opinion, i just love it/them!

  • This is one of my favorites songs Thanks a lot for the lyrics :)

  • Wow??? I love AFI alot.
