  • his accent needs A TON of work, though

  • It must be difficult for Chinese to understand that Whites are superior, given the fact that Chinese bs claims that China is the center of civilization.

  • White ppl pwn Asians, Asians are just now figuring this out cos they are spinning out that we can learn your language easily.

  • Try and order a Chinese in English over the phone in UK, they get the order wrong..he should work in the chinese Resturant, so my food is what I want.

  • @magadee1000 Rofl. Poor people from the UK...

  • wowwww, this little guy is awesome, and his accent is much clear than many chinese, but his english doesn't seem good as well. I'm so jealous, I wish I could learn foreign languages when I was about his age.

  • I wish I learned Mandarin at his age

  • this boy is so cute

  • He almost forgot to speak English. LOL.....

  • he has a very nice beijing accent! wish I started that early :)

  • Ting Bang Le!

  • Damn that kid is smart!!!! AWESOME... good for him

  • LOOOL :) he's ordering 鸡块,(他说“鸡快儿)means "chicken strips"

    rough translation:

"hello. I'd like 8 strips of chicken, 8 chicken strips please. Several Minutes?....Ok....(something, couldn't catch all of it)...Ok, bye" actually he's a beast for his age, he's probably younger than 11 or 12 in this video, definitely on his way to usable fluency

  • @dongrel Not several minutes, but "so, how many minutes?" then "Ok. Can I pick it up?"

  • His beijing accent is much more authentic than me!

  • Lovely!

  • He said, Nihao "something" kuaitzi

Traduction, he is actually asking for chinese chopsticks, probably 10 If my chinese isn't as bad as I think...

  • @MetalliveColombia20 He's asking for 8 chicken nuggets and then asks how long it will take.

  • @szicu29 right on

  • @MetalliveColombia20: I understand "you ba" before kuaize, which yould mean "need 8". Somehow doesn't makes sense to order chopsticks as first order, though :-)

  • @MetalliveColombia20: Actually I mean "yao ba ...", probably wrong what I hear.

  • Excellent!!! We have to make sure our children knows the major languages of the world. Mandarin, spanish, french, arabic, russian are all good starts choose one.

  • he wants 8 chicken wings :D :D :D

  • sound like he live in Beijing

  • 儿化音比我还地道

  • "ma ma qi ma,ma man, mama ma ma".who can understand if chinese guy saying this to you?

  • That's really impressive!! I started learning Chinese when I was 5, gave it up, and had to start all over again in college (MUCH harder, especially getting the accent right!!). I have a long way to go before I can really start doing interesting things in China on my own.

Good for him, hope he sticks with it! :)

  • why is this news? there are millions of kids in the usa who speak spanish or italian or german, so whats the big deal? hes not any smarter that other bilingual kids.

  • @lolacastellano13 Chinese is A LOT harder than majority, if not all European languages. Take the intonation and tone, accent and not to mention the alphabet of Chinese and there you have a much harder language.

  • @Bonami27 chinese has no alphabet, it's an ideographic writing system. You don't spell things out, you memorize thousands of different "glyphs" essentially. the tones aren't hard if you're not tone death and the grammar is almost identical to English. the spoken language itself is actually way easier to learn than say Spanish. Cus with Chinese you don't have to worry at all about inflection: conjugation, tense, plural/multiple, gender, etc. none of those things exist in Chinese.

  • @gariadara Well what the heck do you call Kanji then? Hm? Yes THOUSANDS the key word there. You certainly don't memorize thousands of different letters for any European language now do you? I understand that any language has it's challenges however in my view Chinese is one of the hardest and most challenging to learn.

I'm pretty sure German has no gender tenses either.

  • @Bonami27 German has 3 genders and 4 cases. Chinese characters are called Hán zì, not kanji, that's Japanese.

  • @ado543 Hanzi, Hanja, Kanji, Hantu, Honji, etc. are all the same thing. But I guess it is more appropriate to call it Hanzi when talking about Chinese, Hanja when talking about Korean, and Kanji when talking about Japanese.

  • @Bonami27 German has 3 genders (male, female, neutral) and all Indo-European languages express tense. Kanji (more appropriately Hanzi in this case, since we are talking about Chinese, not Japanese; although the 2 terms refer to the exact same thing) are Chinese characters. Characters are ideograms not letters, and hence do not form an "alphabet."

  • @Bonami27 It has been demonstrated that an alphabet-based writing system does not take up "less" brain space. We actually have to remember much more than 26 letters. Because we also have to remember the correct spelling of words. There are tens of thousands of words and their respective spellings. When we recall a word, our brains actually recalls the entire word in its shape, to the point where even a partial shape is enough. Tat is wy yu cn rd ths sntnce evn wen I'm nt spllng out evry lttr.

  • @gariadara It's clear to me that you have nothing better to do than to sit at your computer and 'educate' myself and others about the completely fascinating (Not) make-up of the Chinese language.

  • @Bonami27 It's clear to me that you like to pretend you are familiar with a topic when you are not and make declarations of facts that are false. But worry not, you're a much better human being than I am because of that, evidently.

  • @Bonami27 like with Chinese characters, for a European language, you have to memorize the exact position of a letter in the word, just like memorizing a stroke position in a character. Pronunciation assists in alphabetical systems, I'll grant you that. But, in Chinese, characters are actually often made up of "root" radicals that already have a rudimentary pronunciation of their own, this to an extent can help one remember a pronunciation. In any case, SPOKEN Chinese is a piece of cake.

  • his chinese is better than mine

  • I guess he learned Chinese first...cuz he may sometimes take a while to clarify it should be he or she, as in Chinese, the pronunciation of the two word is the same...

  • Nice one, Cyril.

  • His Mandarin is fine, although with some accent. What I find surprising is that his English has Northern Chinese accent.

  • He has a chinese accent, when speaking english... Lol

  • 他说中文很好! What a cutie!

  • He sounds exactly like my little cousin. Too cute for words.

  • has he seen a ghost?

  • he speaks Chinese better than English, holy shit WTF thats awesome lollll

  • This kid is going to get all the girls in Shanghai when he grow up.

  • his eyes are so gorgeous! =]

  • @blondexrocker Yeah, did you hear him stumble a little with the he vs. she pronouns?

  • Wow the accent!!! 0.0

  • OMG.......his accent so pure and clean...

  • Evan is awesome :D good job lil buddy!

  • He's translating back into English. That doesn't mean he isn't fluent in it. It just means it's hard to translate, especially for someone that age.

  • so cute!!

  • ????????????????????????? 8==========D

  • dude his chinese is sooo much better than mine and I'm full Chinese lol

  • ...is his Chinese better than his English? He sounded so smooth when speaking in Chinese, but he sounded like he couldn't quite remember how to say something in English for a sec.

Either way, your children are awesome!

  • @Yu3Yan24 It does sound like he's more fluent in Chinese than in English. I guess that's normal considering his environment is entirely Chinese.

For example I'm Chinese but my English is much better than Chinese since I grew up in the UK/Canada.

  • 哈哈 讲的很标准嘛 而且是京腔~

  • 小朋友,加油!=D

  • he sint that fluent in english though

  • can he speak english?

  • He is cute!

  • Aw, he's pretty. And his Chinese is cute.

  • ohhhh my gooosh :DD chinese accent in his english xDD that's gonna be weird :D

  • well done !!

  • I am a taiwanese. His Mandarin is awosome, but his English is completedly impacted by Mandarin. That is so sad. Actually," she" is written in Chinese as 她,and "he" is totaly different as "他". Yet,their pronuciation are the same.

    小伊万根本就是个中国人!

  • @wavewave99 hey what about his nationality. I'm learning Chinese and am kinda curious.

  • @lukebccb And that is what you are ticked off about?

Glad someone flagged your comment as spam, because you have some anger issues pal.

  • "mrceebees14": I've read your postings and I take it back about you being 7 years-old.

Rather: 1) you have the intellectual development of a 14 year-old adolescent or 2) you're ignorant or 3) you're just plain fucking stupid.

Ignorance can be fixed with education and knowledge but stupid is forever.

  • @lukebccb It's nice you researched me stalker.

I said nothing racist or inflammatory, it's your whacked, sick mind that thinks I said something so awful you decide to come at me this way.

    Go get help.

  • VERY impressive, kid looks of middle eastern decent.

How and where has he been learning Mandrin?

  • @mrceebees14: "kid looks of middle eastern decent(sp)"?

How old are you "mrceebees14"? 7 years-old going on IDIOT?

  • @lukebccb An idiot would give your type of response in this case, because how in the hell could you possibly justify being this angry from my post.

How is saying I think the kid has eastern Europe ancestry derogatory?

  • @mrceebees14 Middle eastern? What the fuck? Fair skin, dirty blonde hair, and blue eyes = middle eastern now? You must be drunk.

  • @NoJamOnYourBread He does look a bit Middle Eastern.. There are a lot of Lebanese and Israeli people who look like that. Although I think he looks Russian. Middle Eastern people are more racially diverse than you think - a lot of them look European.

  • no his English sounds perfect like a kid his age would sound

  • This kid is adorable!

  • should teach them russian, its the best langauge ever.

  • @okpapereat I live in a heavily populated Russian area, I can't stand that languge, sounds like shit.

  • @mrceebees14 In chinas boarder to russia i now theres cities like chita which is close to mongo and china boarder. And hows this for ya, privet kak dela?

  • @okpapereat Da, Droog.

  • oh, and I detect a hint of a Chinese accent in his English!

  • @kevinlew41 Does he think in Chinese? He messed up a bit in his English when saying "she said" then correcting himself with "he said".

  • @rpottsch ya in chinese he and she is the same word therefore used for both sexes.

  • @Lexicanoe 这个我知道

  • evan, you are the cutest mandarin-speaking american little boy ever. :)

  • Is it just me, or does he have a Chinese accent when he speaks English?

  • Wow i am so impresses! Keep learning Chinese it s gonna be really helpful after you grow up

  • So cute.. Dad should learn some Chinese though... poor kid doing translation.. just like me when I was little, translating for my parents..
