  • Where is Eyes On Me? The most popular Final Fantasy song of all time?

  • @santaclara84 Uematsu has been quoted saying that from his judgement, To Zanarkand is his most popular track. not that the popularity of any of these songs has anything to do with why I pick.

  • @Lochsabre So maybe the title of the video might need to be changed to "My" ;)

    Interesting list regardless, nice work.

  • @santaclara84 Only that people dont youtube search the word "my" when looking for countdowns. A quick glance at the related videos on your right will resonate this.

    thx

  • @Lochsabre Try not to get offended at every person that doesn't agree with your selection. Ciao.

  • @santaclara84 wow, not sure how to even respond to such a wierd comment.....maybe to say how lazy your observation was. you misread the tone of my comment which was not annoyed or offended. the "thx" at the end of my comment was genuine - not sarcastic - as he complimented the overall picks. not sure how you reach the conclusion that im "offended at every person" from a single comment, but you're clearly very bored.

  • Whats number 3 call

  • I never got the love for To zanarkand.

  • i think final fantasy x-2 song 'eternity memories of waves' shood deffo be on here. search it if u havent heard it, its beautiful

  • To Zanarkand is the number one ofc...That music is so amazing....

  • Going to watch final fantasy and Play

The game >_> song got me in the mood to watch

Anime again V_V Goodbye money (Internet usage)

  • What makes these songs the best is not the melody or the actual music composition itself, but the emotions involved with the music and how the game was fitted to it.

  • Everyone that played FF IX know how beautyfull and touching the soundtracks are...the best in the series

  • the soundtracks of seven and eight rank very highly for me, in part because i was eleven then ffvii came out on the playstation, so i have fond memories of both games.

  • 3 had the best overall soundtrack. i know its 8-bit, but a very good job was done on it

  • With reference to purely the soundtracks my order would be (from favourite overall):

    7

    9

    6

    8

    10

    4/5 (equal)

    13

Haven't played the others, but 4-10 still for me are masterpieces of gaming composition. 13 just didn't have the same feel, along with many games since the early 2000's really..

  • No Celes theme...

    No Dancing Mad...

    No Gilgamesh theme FFV

    No asdfaassadfsdaf...

What the fuck is this shit?

  • 3.... cry.....

  • (FFIX) Terraaaaa!! ♥__♥

    I love it!

Really, FF Music is amazing, really amazing!!

  • I'm completely with you on the number 1!!! Definitely one of the best songs from all the FF!!

  • jenova?

  • Are you kidding? Nothing from FF4 grabbed you?

  • It's all sentimental/soft songs, any list without Searching for Friends from FFVI is just a failure.

  • good list, i think the theme of love from IV is a classic too

  • A great lineup for sure, but a top 10 without Rabanastre, Cosmo Canyon or Edea's Theme? I dunno

  • ff7 is not worldclass it is a spaceclass

  • I honestly liked 9 the best of all final fantasies.

It was classic and new at the same time, holding true to everything final fantasy stood for and more.

I played all except for the new generation 10 and up.

  • In my opinion, i like the FF12 best. I like its music, plot, graphics, feel and fighting controls etc. :D

  • These are the kingdom hearts creators so of course the songs will be good

  • Don't listen to what haters say. I'm a hardcore FF player, I've played them all and this list is reallt great, pretty nostalgic and nice quality too.

  • there are better versions of one winged angel that kick lots of ass.

  • of all the final fantasy 9 songs... why isnt your not alone one of them? that song totally made that game!!! but then again, this isnt my vid, but every final fantasy song is great in its own way, all thanks to the greatest musician of all time... how u spell his name again?

  • Hah! half the songs i agree with half of them i dont. But good choice for #1 my good sir. good choice.

  • IX FTW!

  • @Godagmannokseskaft I don't know if thats referring to me, but its pretty presumptious to say I've heard "half the scores". I've finished all the games, really enjoyed all the soundtracks, and I'm very happy with this list.

  • @Godagmannokseskaft what you think is your opinion. this list is obviously what the author thinks is his/her top 10 songs from the series. if you have an opinion that differs, then go ahead and post your own top 10 list. otherwise refrain from insult and shut it :)

  • the to zanarkand always almost brings me 2 tears D:

it reminds me of that sad scene in the game ;(

  • I gotta say, I was never really a fan of "To Zanarkand" :/

Also, the ending version of Suteki Na De wasn't the best. FFX-2's 1000 words was a much better sounding ending than the ending Suteki Na De. But the Suteki Na De used in the middle of FFX beats the 1000 Words used in the later half of FFX-2.

  • These melody are just so beautiful.

Final fantasy has the best soundtrack ever, so much amazing sounds, and FF IX is just one of the best game which have ever be released, thank you very much for this video !

  • final fantasy IX has the best soundtrack of all time

  • NO FFVIII?

  • @MurpCamEy One Winged Angel is right in the middle?

Everyone has their own opinion on these lists, personally I'd drop To Zanarkand and the FFXII ones and put in Clash on the Big Bridge from V, The Decisive Battle from VI and The Landing from VIII. But like I said, each to their own

  • Comment removed

  • @MurpCamEy Sorry, misread, but at least we agree there should be something from VIII

  • Final Fantasy always delivers great music. FF XIII-2's OST's IMO is the best (apart from that heavy metal chocobo song!!). 12, 10, and 9 are great too

  • OH GOD NOT THE ALLA FLAMENCO i get headaches every time i hear it Damn you the one noble who doesnt like my performance

  • thumbs up if you keep forwarding the video just to see if your favourite songs come up =))

  • Great #1! It always puts me into a relaxing, soothing mood!

  • I'd say the Final Theme in FFX deserves top, even over Back to Zanarkand

  • @RumIsGood1 completely agree

  • I can remember "the place i'll return to someday" playing whn i enter a town :') memories <3

  • so many memories...

  • Final Fantasy X, best one of all, great storyline, awesome fighting, unique characters, need i say more?

  • @justkilledit21 Well, you would need to talk about the questionable clothing design, the slightly hit or miss choice of an outsider less-then-actually-involved with the overarching main story protagonist that acts as the 'focal' point who tends to get overshadowed by a more popular Auron and a more deeply seeded Yuna that's far more crucial to the overall story, the poorly implemented utilisation of Yuna being kidnapped, a few plotholes that keep resurging and why blitzball after a genocide.

  • @justkilledit21 Final Fantasy X is a good game, a great fun one, but to say that it's the best is blind fanboyism. You first need to understand the shortcomings of what you love before you can so readily place it up on a pedestal. Otherwise, it'll get knocked out rather quickly. More often then not, FFX is put up due to it's fun fighting system, there's no denying that, it's great graphics and the pacing of it's story above the story itself.

  • final fantsy 7 is the best one of the series....with the best music.....and is awesome any who disagrees well your gay and have an opinion...

  • @MrSuperbatman12345 Final Fantasy is considered one of the best in great part due to the sudden rise and intake of gamers who gained an interest for RPGs by it's release, what with unending hype and continuous pushbacks that only created more anticipation and buzz across the gaming community at the time, also it was one of the most visually impressive of games that hooked in a lot of players and the fact that it was the first multi-CD game caught a lot of people's attention.

  • @MrSuperbatman12345 I should've been clearer, Final Fantasy 7. It mainly wins out in large part in thanks due to having gained a fanbase that had little to no prior knowledge of previous iteration of the series, and as such their first never is quite the same. It tends to win popular votes just because of that, though it is met with heavy resistance for good reasons. FF7 as great a game as it is, is still riddled with plotholes, certain inconsistencies, convoluted plot points and whatnot.

  • @Testsubject909 true it has plot holes and stuff like that but what game doesn't and final fantsy 7 was in my opinion the best of all the new ones on xbox suck ass and can not be compared to such awesomeness as ff7

  • To Zanarkand, 'nuff said

  • @Kirbydanish Also Nobuo Uematsu's Favorite compositions that he made, so you're in good company.

  • @Kirbydanish Eh... more or less. You'd be surprised but to many gamers out there, there are a lot of melodies in the Final Fantasy series that holds just as great an emotional weight as this one song.

Eyes on me for the FF8 fanatics will more often then not win out over everything else. Rosa's theme song for FF4 is also highly popular. Both Celes' theme and the Opera song will also draw a lot of attention.

But it is quite pleasant to listen to nevertheless, To Zanarkand that is.

  • @Testsubject909 yeah, definetily agree with ya there, to zanarkand is my fav but its a close match, I actually love the ff 13 and ff 13-2 soundtracks. Also from FF6 too

  • i see you're a fellow FF9 lover :P it'll always be my favorite of the series for music, story, and characters. even the minor characters like beatrix are amazing

  • @bewbewbew37 I don't think the game got the credit it deserved!!

  • @YankeeHurricane yeah heaps of people dismissed it as some "monkey game" loool. Heaps of predjudice against a mostly non-human class, distinct medievalness (despite that being the games root) and it being released towards the end of the PSX. My second favourite FF game.

  • @Lochsabre for some reason i feel like you havent played all the games to know all the songs like for instance the intro to the remake of final fantasy 3 on the ds is amazing and Dancing mad? not on here?!?

  • @one1virtuoso I've finished every game in their original releases. I can only pick 10 songs. Why are you suprised that some obscure FF3 DS Remake Intro is not on a list of 10. Dancing Mad isn't here, but Terra's theme is. There are so many great songs. For every good song on this list, an equally good one was left out. I wish I could've had Aria De Mezzo and Liberi Fatali and Black Mage Village but theres like 600 songs.

  • @bewbewbew37 You should check out my Top 10 characters video. I think you'd be pleased. ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @bewbewbew37 hell yeah i love the characters in ff9 and the story is sooooo amazing i love it

  • @bewbewbew37 Beatrix is amazing! I would had loved to played her more in IX

  • @lacrosse47 Everything according to the FF IX play story When Beatrix is a chosice in combat =)

FF VII to FF IX is something that should be brought to the next generation

  • This guy went IN! with the FF9 songs!

  • best songs XD

the price of freedom, under the apple tree, the world's enemy- FF7 CC

sabers edge, blinded by light, dust to dust, eternal love- FF13

    somnus- FFvs13

    Suteki da ne- FF10

eternity memories of light and waves- FF10-2

main theme- dissidia Final Fantasy 012

  • Totally agree with TOP 3 but the other songs are also awesome, but since I did not (yet) play those games, I'm missing the context.

  • FINAL FANTASY X - ETERNITY MEMORIES OF LIGHTS & WAVES THEE BEST MUSIC FROM ANY FF GAME!!

  • where is

    FF II: Finale

    FF IV: Samba de Chocobo

FF IV: Battle with the Fourth Fiend (way more epic then Jenova)

FF IV:Zeromus (way more epic then One Winged Angel)

FF VIII: Liberi Fatali(Way more epic then One Winged Angel)

    FF VIII:Maybe I'm a Lion

    FF VIII: Eyes On Me

  • @riqua250sumtgr

"Way more epic then One Winged Angel" ; where you drunk when writing that ?

  • @manueldelsol12 Why? A lot of the music written after and even before was more epic than OWA

  • @manueldelsol12 As is, I can sort of see your point, though, Manueldelsol... Zeromus is an amazing piece but as they both appear in-game, it doesn't hold an unlit candle to OWA. However, if redone full orchestra, they could probably do battle with each other and probably call it a draw.

  • @manueldelsol12 Hmm... I can understand there's quite a lot of emotional weight behind your take on One Winged Angel, there usually is when fanboyism is present, but there are indeed a lot of songs out there that are far more poignant then One Winged Angel.

I'll go with the immediate opposition that is more often typically utilized when attempting to combat FF7 fanboyism, and that is it's immediate predecessor, FF6. The most immediate comparison you can utilize is the final boss theme.

  • @manueldelsol12 Continuing, Dancing Mad comparatively to One Winged Angel holds more solidly to the entire arc, the entire story as it incorporates certain musical cues that were found throughout the story, bringing it to a full close and full circle which heightens the dramatic tension and emotional weight, it is both an operatic and symphonic piece despite it's technical limitation which culminates to a rocking finish that drives home that sense of finality and what is often described as epic.

  • @manueldelsol12 Plus, One Winged Angel, much like the rampant blind devotion to FF7, is overplayed and tends to grow quite a bit on the general gaming population's nerves. Anything that is good or great but is constantly repeatedly fed to the public to no end will tend to grow stale or gain their ire or just sound stereotypically overdone. That's one growing disadvantage for One Winged Angel.

It's not hard to believe that to some or many, Liberali Fatali or Zeromus are way more epic.

  • and top 1 is suppose to be FF10 phuulease.. i prefer melodies of life or eyes on me.. which is much more better than your top 1

  • These are so hard. One Winged Angel belongs easily.

    Why no Dancing Mad?

Anyway, Chrono Trigger could have been included here, even though it's technically not the same title.

Man FF6 and Chrono Trigger could fill the top 10 by themselves.

    Magus?

    Cyan?

  • @Wade23581 If you'd include Chrono Trigger, how about Chrono Cross? Say what you will about the game itself, the CC soundtrack has quite a few quality tracks.

  • @Wade23581 There are by now literally hundreds of songs to choose from to determine which one is best. Outside of those who're well versed and educated in the composition of music and who can better draw connections between the quality of a melody paired with how well it may fit with the story or tell the story, we're often left with personal opinion and emotions moreso then anything else. It often also tells you when a person has begun playing Final Fantasy in more ways then one.

  • @Wade23581 Also, since it seems you enjoy Dancing Mad. Here, go do a small search and see if you've heard of these remixes before.

You have Oren Production's symphonic rendition in three part: Mors Ego Sum Mortis, Fuga Kefka, Also Sprach Kefka.

You have Guarvail's Metal Cover in four part.

You have the official metal remix by the Black Mages.

And as a small bonus, you have Terra's Theme arranged by Jeremy Soule.

And as another small extra. Hyadain's Cyan, Sabin Rap, Terra and FF Theme.

  • @Testsubject909 Dude whats wrong with you, you respond to EVERYONES comments saying that oh no ur choice and opinion isnt a good one. Leave it alone if someone likes something alot and says it the best let them, let it go man ur too worried about this.

  • 1.To zanarkand - FFX

    2. Vamo Alla Flamenco - FFIX

    3. Terra Theme FFVI

    4. Prologue - FFXII

    5. Eyes on me - FFVIII

    My personal top 5 :)

But i really liked your top 10 ;)

  • It's a nice top, and despite it lacks "You're not Alone" from FF IX and some songs from FF XIII, that would make your top a top 30 (or 20) and not a top 10, so...I think if you want this a top 10, it's good enough.

  • yeah i liked it for the 1 song

  • i liked this bcuzz of the #1 song

  • where´s " the Price of freedom"

  • Aerith....:( I miss her so damn much although I really love Yuffie< Yes the one who stole all my hard earned materia and got fustrated when I couldn't find her anywhere in Wutai

  • Pretty good top 10

  • One Winged Angel is best

  • I think there are too many FFIX songs...just MHO

  • Started crying when number 6 came up. So much nostalgia is hard to handle!

  • you have forgotten " THOSE WHO FIGHT " !

  • #10 is my favorite song. Fills me up with emotion from my childhood. I really LOVE your playlist. I'd up you a million times if I could.

  • The title of this playlist is slightly misleading… but to be honest, I'm glad it has this stuff too.

And dang, never really realized how emotional Terra's Song is. It's hard to really listen the music when you're watching an LP and they're talking over it, or it's quieter, or blah stuff like that. XP

  • I liked the choices you made, though I would've included Aria di Mezzo Carratere (VI) (though with Aerith's theme it seems almost redundent), You're Not Alone (IX), The Great Warrior (VII), The Man With The Machine Gun (VIII), and at least one of the De Chocobo songs.

I also wouldn't have used both The Place I'll Return to Someday and Terra, because they're the same basic song.

But then again, that's the great thing about music, it's very subjective, and my tastes are no more valid than yours.

  • Kuja's theme

  • You miss "Gilgamesh" bridge battle, Final Fantasy V

  • liberi fatali?????

  • Hm, in my opinion the music of FF XII is no match for the older titles. I miss "Blue Fields of FF VIII and also think that FF X has much more great tunes (remember the Mt. Gagazet theme? epic ^^). But this is your list, so great job anyways :)

  • You play me the girl on the piano, I show you the girl who is depressed as shit….. I miss FFIX...

  • where FF8?

    what the hell!!!!

  • I woulda had way more FF6 in my top ten. that game has the best sound track of any game ive ever played. Also agree with whoever said "needs more matoyas cave" that song is a strong contender for number 1.

  • THANK YOU FOR NOT BLINDLY PLACING "ONE-WINGED ANGEL" AT TOP SPOT! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

This is a great Top 10, by the way!

  • @robbobjonification Eh, I'm kinda disappointed it's on there at all (and I'm an FFVII fanboy if you must label me). Songs like The Great Warrior, Cosmo Canyon, Those Chosen By the Planet, Interrupted By Fireworks, and J-E-N-O-V-A are all better songs in my opinion...but eh, it's the posters list, so I guess I can't complain. 'Specially since I don't have a list of my own.

  • @TheAbsoluteAzure

No, nothing wrong with liking FFVII as your favorite. Nothing wrong with that at all. It's the fanboys that drive me nuts. Honestly, One-Winged Angel is not a bad song. If anything, it's a straight-up awesome song. But it's far from the greatest song in the series. But I guess that since it's Sephiroth's (who I consider a vastly overrated villain) theme that rabid fanboys blindly place it at top spot. But that's all my own opinion, of course.

  • @robbobjonification

Also, to be honest, I've only played FF7, 8, 9 and the first half of 10. Tried 12, but could never really get into it, so any chance of me making even a semi-credible "Top 10" of anything Final Fantasy is null and void.

  • @robbobjonification I was just stating that VII was my favorite so that you understood that me tearing down OWA wasn't out of spite for the game, but I do agree that it's "overrated" (God, I hate that term). There's so many better songs in the game than just OWA, let alone the rest of the series (which I mentioned in a comment not in reply to yours). While I agree it's epic, once you've heard it 1000 times, it's no different than fanboys ragging on you about FFVII; Annoying.

  • @TheAbsoluteAzure

    Ah, I see. My bad.

  • You forgot FFX- Suketi da ne.....

  • FF7- Forgotten City, FF8 The Castle, FF8 Time Compression and other FF8 how can u forget about these!!!

  • what about Price of freedom ?

  • I LOVE final fantasy big!!!

  • Final Fantasy IV - Theme of Love

  • Unfortunately, it appears that you have no music before FF7, which I presume means that you have only played the later half the main series of FF. Your list is missing some of the highlight FF songs that appear in FF1 - FF6, which, in my opinion, contain the better songs of the series.

  • It needs more Matoya's Cave... ;-)

  • @921144666 i need more cowbell!

  • Loved it!<3

  • I'm a Zelda fanatic and can't stop with the Zelda music!!! But I got to say this music kicks ass also!!!! Final Fantasy composers really know how to create and compose music. I'm sure many of you would be proud of this music

  • I'm afraid I have to disagree with many of these.. but when it comes to music from games, it's determined mostly by the impact it had on each person, so it's understandable many people have different top 10s

  • ... nothing from the VIII? :(

  • final fantasy 10 has been my favourite, say what you want but that game had just about everything. AND A FUCKING AWESOME SOUNDTRACK,

so good choice for the #1 :)

  • Wtf? Where is Eternity of Memory and Lightwaves? Final Fantasy X-2

  • Terra's theme still give me goosebamps untill today, best song ever

  • I... concur.

  • thought it was going to be owen pallett, not a fucking stupid video game. Get a life you losers

  • @shauno5166 dude, enjoying a game game and taking about an hour from your day doesn't mean you don't have a life

  • Loss of me only at 10? :| Well, nice video though.

#1 Place I'll Return To Someday

    #2 Loss Of Me :)

  • Nice , the best video game music ever.

  • Great list FF IX had some of the best music ever and is always considered a underdog, But it is my second fave only to 10.

  • the sephiroth song always terrifies me

  • Good list. "You're Not Alone" is missing though.

  • I think one place this ranking seems reasonable.

I've played hundreds of games, I don't know more songs.

It is exactly what stirs the soul songs.

    From Japan

  • @Lochsabre Well said, I agree. People complain about things all the time if it gets more attention than something they like better self. And also, GREAT list! I didn't expect so many FFIX songs to be on the list. But they're all wonderfull pieces. I was really happy to see that "The place I'll return to someday" got ranked so high. :]

  • @Lochsabre I just reacted like that because I've heard it so many times. FFVII was at the top of my fangirl list recently, so I was listening to that song constantly and I'm a bit sick of it now. That and it came right after IX Terra's peaceful, beautiful theme and it killed my relaxed-ness. One-Winged Angel IS a masterpiece, honest. Dunno if that makes sense. But that's just my opinion-sorry if I offended you.

  • @Lightningtail nah thats fine. my brother said something similar actually. that some of the faster songs in this video didnt seem to belong. 3 years on I agree that OWA has lost a little of its effect with me too, but im still happy to give it the nod.

  • oh very good playlist the first is one mi faves FF songs

  • Obviously everyone's going to have different opinions, but at least you got #1 right! I thought #2 was a horrible choice. Clearly, I thought some of the best songs were left off this list: Forever Rachel, the World Map music from FFVII, Serah's Theme, and probably some others from FFX like the Ending music, Someday the Dream Will End, and the one from Gagazet (People from the North Pole)...

  • wheres red wings and golbez theme?

  • Where are Eyes On Me and Melodies of Life? This list is flawed...

  • @grimkiller696 thx for the feedback. ill take some solace though in the massive percentage of likes vs dislikes.

  • @grimkiller696

its HIS top 10, not yours. It can't be wrong.

  • @grimkiller696 dude, first your a tool for thinking every1 out there has the same tastes as you in music, second if you got a problem go make your own top 10 so we can go on there and bash your tastes

  • @grimkiller696 Which do you think are the top 5?

  • Agree with number 1

  • Forever Rachel and Dancing Mad, where are they?

  • Comment removed

  • 6:35 :'( the best song T_T

  • 4:40 : oh fuck me... omnislashhhh!!!

  • "Loss of me" looks like "This thing I must protect".

  • I'd forgotten how good some of the music in IX was :)

  • 06:35 You will always be the best Game in History in my Opinion, Final Fantasy VII <3

  • WHY ISNT DANCING MAD ON HERE?

  • I still love the FFIV Prologue above all else ^_^

  • Terra's Theme always brings a tear to my eye =')

  • Terra is the best theme music on here. hands down.

  • @xhobbyx from VI; I should mention
