  • Can you all shut up about glee and Lindsay Pearce her voice sounds damn computerized

  • I'm pretty dissapointed everyone is saying "OMG Glee brought me here :D"

    STFU.

  • STFU about Glee!

  • I'm here because of Glee, i've never seen Evita.

And i think now, i'm grateful lol

Lidsay Pearce has a better pronunciation than Madonna!!!

They should have worked on that!

It just pisses me off, the way she says "Buenos aires" or "9 de Julio".

By the way, i'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

  • LINDSAY PEARCE VERSION!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MADONNA SUCKS-PATTI RULES

  • Terrible accent

  • Comment removed

  • @Superdeduper739 Give her a break the majority of the play is in english. She was hired to play Evita because she looks like her and sings very well, that's good enough.

  • The music is good!

  • She's far better than Lindsay.

  • what is the highest note in this song?

  • JAJAJAJ she can't say Florida, Corrientes and Nueve de Julio!! :D

  • Comment removed

  • Thumbs up if Glee DIDN'T bring you here.

  • I HATE THE FACT THAT MADONNA IS EVITA!!, I´m argentinian

  • Sucks that people have to watch Glee in order to know about this amazing piece of musical theater.

  • @frenchy505 even though i've been a fan of evita long before glee came about (i watched the movie version with my mom all the time when i was little), glee has still introduced me to all kinds of musical productions that i did not have the good fortune to discover on my own. I applaud glee for that. I think some people should stop fussing about what brought them here or not and just enjoy the production.

  • Amazing song. Amazing performance. Amazing film.

  • @littlesusie95 i know right

  • OMG can't she say “Buenos Aires” like a normal person?!

  • @LittleSusie95 normal people don't go around yelling buenos aires in a song... you have to have just a little touch of star quality to understand how perfect Madonna sings bueno aires in this song...

  • @RandomAndABitOfWeird @ayammmme Look Elena Roger's version. She does pronounce it the right way because she's from Argentina :D

  • @tucho713 Si sos de BsAS, Lo deberias haber escrito en español!

  • She can't sing. I don't understand how this woman is so famous.

  • @xizzyroannex... she's singing here... and that is why she is the most famous... and you can't really open your mouth if you yourself can't even sing and still, if you can't understand why she's the most famous, then it's probably the envy blocking your brain function......whahahahahahaa...

  • @Msdominitrix Actually... I can sing pretty well, not saying I'm Celine Dion or anything, but I can carry a tune. Therefore, I have a keen interest in people who can actually sing and Madonna, cannot. She can dance and she writes her own stuff but she can't sing that well. It's an irrevocable truth. Jealousy doesn't real come into it. But if you must know, I'm hopelessly jealous of Lady GaGa, now there's a talented lady.

  • @xizzyroannex blah blah blah.. tell yourself whatever makes you happy... Madonna can sing... She's the best selling female artist of all time, WORLDWIDE, because of the music that she SINGS in her albums. If you want voices, stick with opera or go to a broadway show. people who have range can only sing so much and their music gets boring after a while... how's that for FACT! you should be jealous lady gaga, monsters normally are..........whahahahahaahaaa..

  • @Msdominitrix Well, erm, correct me if I'm wrong, but ORIGINATED from Broadway did it not?

Yes indeed, I am a monster... I guess being inhuman means that I have absolutely no right whatsoever to form and express my own opnions... I apologise profusely.

  • Well Lindsey didn't pronounce the "rio de la plata..." part correct and Madonna did and Madonna did such a great job as well

  • No, Madonna brought me here!

  • thumbs up if now (like me) you now have to go watch this movie :D

  • Viva Evita!

  • as much as i do like glee it is tiring seeing every song they've covered with stuff like "glee did it better"

  • The Gerber Baby´s (Lindsey Pearce) version off Glee is better, at least Lindsey could pronounce Buenos Aires properly, whereas Madonna is singing Buenis Ayris :/

  • @RandomAndABitOfWeird Actually Lindsey didnt pronounce it the right way either.

  • My favorite version of Helllllooooo Buenos Aires!

  • Is that MADONNA? She looks so young!

  • @gingirsnap101 16 years takes its toll.

  • Who is she?

  • it's good, she's just not belting it.

  • how she sounds a pit off tune? :S

  • She's not the Gerber Baby ahahahahahahaha , glee version its better

  • Before Madonna and Glee there was Patti LuPone. If you don't know who that is you should be slapped then you should look her up! Don't worry you can thank me later.

  • @DeontezL slap again if you don't know Elaine Paige!

  • patti lupone owns this song. period.

  • Hermoso, simplemente hermoso.

  • not gonna lie... Lindsay Pearce from glee did better

  • This sing is so awesome! Rock on Madonna and of course, Andrew Lloyd Webber!

  • Comment removed

  • I must say I enjoy the Glee version better, mostly because Lyndsey actually has a stronger voice than Madge, not that it isn't good, but she has better belting power in this song specifically =)

  • Glee is better.

  • I'm sorry, but the Glee version is so much better!

  • @RandomGuyFromAmerica every other version is better.

  • Yeaah, thumbs up if you are NOT from Buenos Aires -_________-''

  • @lennardpierey *Thumb up*

  • @lennardpierey But, whattefack voor'n kutnummer.

  • @TheTHWIT heee dit is een geweldig nummer!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I don't get these people all commenting they are here because of Glee. I may understand you lived your life without hearing or knowing what Evita was about (I am so sorry!), what I don't understand is that urge to brag about your ignorance.

And PS: Just by listening one song, you still won't know what Evita is all about.

  • thumbs up if you are from buenos aires!!

  • Thumbs up if you are here NOT because of Glee, but you love Evita :)

And I have nothing against Glee, I really like it.

  • Lindsay Pearce NEEDS to be the successor for the 2012 Evita. She's perfect for Eva.

  • thumbs up if you like glee but the real reason you're here is because ALW is a genius

  • @craveyourpoison

Finally, someone who's not talking about being here because if Glee.I commend your brilliance Sir or Madame! :D

  • thumbs up if glee brought you here! :)

  • @greenearth258 Glee is for Fagots

  • @ICYxBEAST Although I never came here because of glee and I think it does do awful covers of great show tunes, if you want to avoid 'Fagots' why are you watching videos from musicals xD

  • BUENOS AIRES I LOVE YOU! argentina pasion

  • now walking with your suitcase like that in buenos aires is a death sentence!

  • @leoelmosca like USA

  • THUMBS UP ARGENTINA

  • oh come on.... i know this song before glee does it..... Evita is classic. :)

  • Cant wait for glee to do this :)

  • Glee !!! <3

  • Thumbs up if you saw this because Glee :)

  • why does this song have a "tropical" rhythm for god's sake?!

  • if harmony is in the sectionals they coulb win! and ND and the Troubletones no

  • Hello! Buenos Aires! :D

  • awesome! i'm from argentina and glee is doing this! :D

  • Harmony is going to kick some ass with this song. Love Lindsay Pearce so much

  • @glicout

Yeah, how come every song that Harmony does has a dance break?

  • Glee is gonna to do this! To emotional

  • she looks ALOT younger whenever she has dark hair

  • I invite you to meet Elena Roger from Argentina.

  • @LifeNotRules

Argentina after WW2 and even before was full or European mostly.

    Germans especially for example.

    Being tan wasn't fashionable.

  • @Loummpa Oh.

  • @LifeNotRules Actually most Argentinean people are fair skinned and many even have blond hair or very light shades of brown and light color eyes too. So not sure what impression you had of an Argentinean? Anyhow you be surprised at how European looking or pale skinned the people are.

  • @LifeNotRules someone of us Argentinians are descendants from europeans such italians, spaniards, ucranians, germans, for example. You have a prejudices that we are all related to indigenous people.

  • What an annoying version

  • @Wrex28 i agree with you. i watched this video and thought "really??"

  • OW MY GOODNESSS I LOVE MY CONTRY !!! I WILL NEVER LET YOU ARGENTINA !

  • BUENOS AIRES IS THE CAPITAL OF SOUTH AMEIRCA !!!

  • @GustavoRiera89 A continent can't have a capital.

  • @GustavoRiera89 I agree, so beautiful and so interesting! I'm from Ireland, but if I didn't live in Australia I would be living in Argentina!

  • @balmainguy Your from ireland cool ! Argentina has many decendents of Irish.....you are welcome to vist !

    saludos

  • @GustavoRiera89 Thank you, I would love to visit again. I spent a month in Argentina a few years ago and it was amazing. Hopefully I will make it back sometime in the next couple of years.

We have many people from Argentina and Uruguay living in Australia as well!

  • @spededpat Well, that's the good thing about opinions. They're like buttholes. Everyone has one. And idk why you see the point in starting an argument on youtube. What're you going to do, CAPITALIZE me?

  • tickle the roots...

  • Corrientes, tres-cuatro-ocho, segundo piso ascensor...

  • uhm...what was the song with "`big apple"?

  • @goldkehlchen1993 Eva Beware of the City?

  • @adam4757 could be...well I don't know, I thought it would be this song..but thank you!!

  • The best song of the movie. <3

  • i can so much relate to this. the need of getting the heat and tolerance of a huge city with all its dangers because the country is even more dangerous for a free minded person

  • I absolutely LOVE The intro to this song!! :D

  • Rio de la Plata! Florida! Corrientes, Nueve de Julio, all I want to know

  • Elena Rogers > Madonna

  • She sucks. :/

  • @Brianna1Lyn2 She sure does, thats why she been singing for over 30 years. How long have you been singing professionally?

  • @spededpat lol defend Madonna! Whoo!!

  • @spededpat she can barely sing. She was sent home from the first sessions in tears beacuse she blew chunks. That said , she sounds her best here, but that's not saying much.

  • What does 'Rio de la plata! Florida! Corrientes! Nueve de julio!' mean? I'm assuming 'nueve de julio' means 9th of July - what's the significance of that date? Cheers! :)

  • @markjameshowe They are streets in Buenos Aires.

  • @ranke1ej you're wrong.

  • @markjameshowe Those are names of the main streets is Buenos Aires city. 9 de Julio is the widest street in the world. It's name means, as you said, 9th of July, which is the Argentina's independence day.

  • @Nikk016 Ah, thank you. Is neuve de julio (the street) the street at the start of the film during Requiem for Evita? Sorry and thank you!

  • @markjameshowe As far as i remember, the film begins at the funeral of Evita's father. She lived in Junin then. Than it located in the province of Buenos Aires, but not in the city of Buenos Aires, where Nueve de Julio is.

  • @Nikk016 Junin is within Buenos Aires province actually, lol

  • @markjameshowe Rio de la Plata is the river situated by Buenos Aires coast, Florida is the most important pedestrian in Argentina, Corrientes is a very important avenue, where most of the famous Argentinian theatres are, and Nueve de Julio is the widest avenue in the world - it's name is because of that date, that is the argentinian flag's day.

  • @markjameshowe and the indepencende day

  • i love this movie i watched it with my sister for a project @ school for her i watched the class and this was an amazing movie! i love this movie!

  • I love Her Madgesty!!!! The one and only Queen of Pop!!!!!!!!!!! So beautifull, so talented, so brilliant!!!

  • I was just in a production of Evita, and I can honestly say that this interpretation of the play is... interesting...

  • I felt with this film she moved from the category of a show business curiosity to a significant artist. She occupied the role totally and there's never a false note in her portrayal. She captured both the glories of Eva Peron and the vulnerabilities. This was not some movie star turn, but serious acting.

  • just watched this movie in Spanish class this week... and I'm in love with Madonna now :)

  • WHAT'S NEW? BUENOS AIRES!!

  • @madgirl1986 I'll tell you what's new, Buenos Aires!

  • I was born in 1995 and i grow up with these songs =D

  • @QuiTeperfecTion You were BORN in 1995? Aw baby, you're making me feel OLD now, LOL! (1978, Grease girl myself!)

  • @EZYCHEESY It's so adorable how you obsessively stalk clips of every single actress who played same roles as Patti just to talk shit about them. You're an adorable delusional little fanqueer, but at least we can agree on some things. ;)

  • The new key, tempo, and orchestrations to this song really ruined the melody and flow...

  • This could have been a phenomenal film if LuPone had been given the role. Now that's the voice of "Evita!" It is also disappointing to see Budapest substituted for Buenos Aires. For those who hope not to have their intelligence insulted, quality matter.

  • @Towersla Patti was too old by the time they did the movie, but so was Madge. And they had no choice but to use Budapest for some scenes because Buenos Aires is a very modernized city and there are very few old school areas left to shoot a movie of this scope.

  • if you don't post the vid at 1.1x normal speed, WMD will block it for copyright violation, guys. that's why it sounds like it does.

  • golden eras anymore

  • argentina in 1910,1920 and 1930 was first world ..palaces everywere, there was no hunger, there was not poors, first country to have a skyscraper in america, first country in latin america to have underground. in france the people say "rich as an Argentine",london have a harrods, buenos aires too, but with peron spoil it all, then that, argentina never stand up

  • @BsAs8Ros8Coa Hi. You meant first skyscraper in South America? What building is this? I'm going to visit Buenos Aires in June and I can put this place in the list. But as far as I know, Edifício Martinelli was the first scyscraper of South America, built between 1922 and 1930 in São Paulo.

  • @heremitsoldier yes the martinelli started in 1929 and finished in 1934, but the el palacio del correo (Palace Mail) in buenos aries started in 1902 and finished in 1928,another is palacio barolo 1923-2929.... but here is one more old started in 1898 and finished in 1909 is the edificio diario la prensa . ..

edificio martinelli is beautiful and huge !!

  • @BsAs8Ros8Coa Colonization does that to an area. You can thank the Brits for that!

  • @BsAs8Ros8Coa Well, that's a bit delusional.

  • i love the movie not to mention the music

  • It reminds me of Pluto

  • se les patina la R xD

  • Comment removed

  • wow en général, je aimer cette musique de films

  • This is my favorite song in the Musical :)

  • @TheBombshack I doubt that random people in a dingy bar in Buenos Aires are going to be great dancers, and Eva Peron was never a dancer. She is just having fun.

  • There is definitely a change in pitch in all these videos. I have one of the very first original copies of the movie. It sounds nothing like this. Your right AOG93. It's sounds just like Material Girl. XD

  • love madonna!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I guess this just BEGS the perpetual comparison of Madonna to Patty LaPone, then stereotypically bashing the former. Oh well, let them spew, but I appreciate both apples and oranges.

  • Comment removed

  • @uKooKu Lupone is a properly trained singer. Madonna was a pop singer...she was all gimmick and no voice. She actually learned to sing correctly during Evita. Her subsequent albums prove that point!

  • @storm915 Patti lupone sining this song reminded me of Tevya from If I Were a Rich Man in Fiddler on the Roof. AT least Madonna can pronounce English words properly and doesn't vibrato the hell out of every single note. I love Lupone in many things but she overdoes it so often, she has no grace.

  • @xpo50 true she did way over do it and she did it Gypsy her OTT was really over the top but it is a stage. Madonna sounds like she is acting like herself.

  • @storm915 When I heard Patti Lupone sang this song I thought she was the female version of Tevya sining If I Were A Rich Man.

  • Comment removed

  • th best song from the movie. I love when she sings "what's new, Buenos Aires ???". Back then, Madonna's voice was flawless... now she sings like a fishmonger... too bad !
