but, like i said in earlir post, how good can Mike become because if this time w/ billy? how old is he agian? think Billy hasnt told him of Jimmy's young shortcomings to be just as good? i like him, and the influence Billy mite be having on him. won't be in SP forever, but will check him out in whatever band he winds up in!

The problem with Byrne is that he'll never get close to the massive, concrete solidness of Jimmy when it comes to writing material. It was Chamberlin who always signalled Corgan when the arrangement worked and when it didn't. I can just imagine Billy walking into the studio with the demo of a new song with a drum machine in it. And go like, "okay Mickey, there you go. Now we just have to record this". Jimmy would just trash that, put in drums the way he wanted, and it will always be great.

@popoyt well keep in mind he's not the one who writes the songs. While I enjoy the TBK songs thus far, they're not the type of songs in which he can shine drumming wise. Give it time, this kid will be one of the greats in a few years.

smashing pumpkins are my all time favorite band. needless to say, they were an abysmal, gothy embarrassment during the machina period as well as zeitgeist. but this feels like a comeback. they sound absolutely phenomenal here and just as good as their '93-ish peak. welcome back!

Jimmy remains one of the greatest ever.......but maybe M ike one day can claim a title as being great............years to go but he sounds good.................

And it is great to see Billy in black again like he is ... maybe he will write some sad music for Teargarden....I'm not saying by wearing all black he is depressed, but he looks it...full of joy for the music but inside he's torn......Great music has come from his pain!!!!
