Thank you so much for posting this song! I've been looking for it for years. I used to have the album and I lost it years ago... Im a huge fan of bagpipes, so I love this song.
i was 12 when I discovered this song and it thrilled me so much, that still now I remember it with a BIG smile. I dont belong entirely to 90s generation, but I also knew a lot of music from that time, and I think it was such a great decade.
My high school sweetheart told me never to play guitar around her. I knew it was time to dump her then, but of course she ended up dumping my loser-ass. (Being a loser for not dumping HER!!)
My friend and i had MTV2 on one morning in '97, coming down off an acid trip. This video came on right as the dawn sunlight came through the window. It was like the sun wrote a song and beamed it directly through our TV into our crispy eyeballs. The 90s ruled, harder than it's even possible to explain anymore. GenX pride, baby!
Thank you for posting this! The bagpipes were all I could remember from this song--I was PD at a radio station when this came out, and loved it at the time. Oh, and I could also remember that this song was used in the TV commercial for the Clooney/Kidman movie "The Peacemaker".
My music teacher at school played this for us (For the bagpipes part, it's a pipes class) and I heard it, jumped up and I was like, "WHAT IS THE NAME OF THAT SONG" This song is sick.
OMG!. I have to say the same!. I remember that I used to see this video on MTV Latinamerica and I just loved it!. Years went by and I never heard this song again!. It was never pretty comercial in Venezuela but I allways loved it. I`ve been looking for it for so many times and I just found it two days ago!. When it says.... Life is but I dream... I understood Life is para dream... which in spanish would be ...La vida es para soñar.. Life is to dream.. My english was pretty bad!.
I used to absolutely ADORE this song when it came out, and completely forgot about it until today. It's been more than a decade since I heard it. My brain is having an orgasm right now. ^_^
had completely forgotten about this song!!!! Just remembered it after reading Beck´s Wikipedia entry. What a great song. They don´t make them like this anymore.
@mutedisease Heck I even remember some local radio DJ calling this the hip hop of the future. Poor guy, little did he know hip hop would become the shit it is now.
Haha love it, Wow I thought I was the only one who loved this song. My brothers would look at me all weird when I would listen to this song. Now I know I'm not the only one who went through something like that..haha GREAT SONG!!!!
I got this cd from Barnes and Noble like 15 years ago and it was hard to find then. Silver w/ black trees and lime green writing. AMAZING album if you can get your hands on it. I love their song algorhythm; but this is by far the best song.
@music2thepeople that exact car, no joke, been sold on since, i remember them using it although i had never heard of them at the time, i have pictures and everything , happy times :)
@mrwarped Now that you've found it, do you feel that your comment is sufficient for the years of work and sacrifice you've dedicated towards searching for this video?
although i normally listen to bands completely different from this (Whitechapel, Lamb of God, and Job For A Cowboy just to name a few), i thought this was really cool. good song too.
Now consider that it was all but done by 1993, but Carl Stephenson, the brains behind FftT (also the producer of Beck's "Odelay") had a nervous breakdown and backburnered this project until '97.
So it basically isn't 10 years ahead of its time, it's 15. Not just next-level shit, but like three or four levels.
When a 10 year old is left alone in a room without supervision, does it make it sound? Fortunately, not that we can tell, but the fucker can still get on youtube and annoy the world with stupid comments. :(

OMG. I looked this up after checking out this site that lists the modern rock top 20 for every week of the 90s not knowing what it was. And YET I totally remember this video and song. That chorus hook with the ladies has been going through my head for these last 12 years! I feel like a piece of my childhood has been recaptured! lol
@devasic1 dude, i finally went through an archive of mtv 120 minutes after years of having the chorus trapped in my head... only knowing "dream" and the melody. literally looked up anything that remotely seemed like it would be it, and i had a general idea of when it was released, between 93-97. when i finally happened upon the artist/title, i knew i had it. i blasted it for at least a day straight, makes me feel uplifted.
oh god. I loved this song. I wonder how many copies this sold. I'm pretty sure this song was super unpopular, but somewhere I heard it and I loved it.
