  • What a stompin' beat. What a fantastic historical documnet. Time machine anyone? Thanks for posting.

  • AND....by the way, that's my father, Louis Masinter playing bass on the terrific videos posted from 1936, 'Swing Cat's Jamboree'. We have stills of Daddy in his costume worn at the end of the video for 'Loch Lomond. It sure is fun to come across these videos from days gone by!

  • Great story bout ur father suze u must be so proud i met keely smith in summer shes still singing great

  • I have a terrific photo of my father with his bass and Prima. Actually, my Dad kept an extensive collection of photos he took from the road trips, movie lots, and various stills from his time in all the bands he performed with in his stellar career. The last one I have is a newspaper clipping showing the Medicare Madcaps performing at New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in 1994, the year my father passed away. He was 86!

  • How Cool to have a Dad like yours! Having played with one of the greats of the swing era. Not just witnessing but actually participating in making history. I'm glad he had a long, productive life. And that he was able to share so many things with you!

  • My father played with Prima in the late 30's and very early 40's and that might well him on bass. Louis Masinter went on to play with the US Coast Guard band and then in the Blue Room at the Roosevelt Hotel with Leon Kelner. Thanks for posting!

  • Wow, what an honor. Thanks for your sharing this story!

  • I have all 19 hours of the broadcast, it's wonderful from beginning to end...

Starts out with Arthur Godfrey hosting Sun Dial...it's pretty good...

  • You're a damn Prima detective!! Good find.

  • quels souvenirs c'est toujours aussi magique encore et encore!!

  • i am extremely interested in finding the factual data on this broadcast..if anyone can help...please do!

  • Well, this rare broadcast was preserved because of the famous "complete broadcast day" recordings made by WJSV in Washington. They wanted to preserve for posterity a typical day of broadcasts at the station. Like a "time capsule" of sorts. They used several transcription discs. Fortunately, the day's transmission included this remote by Louis Prima!

  • You are welcome!

  • AMAZING!!! thank you a lot.
