  • i dont like my yolk completely cook, when i boil egg, i put the egg in the pot with cold water, put it on heat and once its starts boiling, i time it for about 4-7 mins. 4 is still nice and liquidy and 5ish 6 is just a lil soft yolk. take it off the heat and put it under cold water.

  • heres how you boil an egg perfectly without all the nonsense. bring water to a boil, place eggs in pot gently, cook for 11 or 12 minutes. not that fucking hard

  • If you don't have a thermometer, what works perfectly for me, is get the water to a rolling boil (i.e bubbling like crazy) and set the timer for 10 mins. Then put in cold water once the time's up. Again, perfect :)

  • Water does not increase in temperature when it begins boiling, so why use a thermometer?

    That was a joke; 210-212 is the boiling temperature of water at sea level. If you live above sea level water boils at lower temperature no matter how much you heat it in a bowl. Most people can never get water boil at 210.

    The video is using Imperial and I tried to answer the video! I studied in metric myself and have to convert everything to metric to get the feel of it.

  • @Salahuddin2009a i was really just kidding, but imperial to me makes no sense, i live in Canada and dont understand how usa uses imperial anymore. numbers adding up to 100,1000,10000 make sense not like miles where its time based or degrees in F. celsius up to 100 for water makes sense. lol :) silly rant of the day

  • Chef John, you saved me! I only put sour cream, mayonnaise and mustard (seasoning and finely chopped gherkins), and the mixture was too thin. So I panicked, came here and saw that you put cream cheese. Luckily I had cream cheese and that saved the day ^^ Thank you :D

  • Here in Singapore it is also the norm to back into a parking lot! In fact it is required testing before you can qualify for a driving licence!

  • The reason your method doesn't work for everyone is not immediately obvious: water boils at a lower temperature at high altitude (say, 200F vs 212F at sea level).

    While that doesn't seem like a lot, it can extend the time they must sit in the boiling water significantly. This is why there is no standard rule for how long to let them sit in the water, since it it changes based on altitude.

  • I bring mine to a boil, not a simmer, and I cool them off by draining the eggs and dumping them into a bowl of ice water or running under the cold tap until the eggs cool off. Never had it fail unless I didn't heat the water enough first or didn't leave it in the hot water long enough...or too long. Green es no bueno lol

  • @TheOpii You usually get 2 tips and 10 bags. It depends on the brand. You can buy a set of different shaped tips, like stars and triangles, if you want to.

  • 12 minutes has always been the magic number for me for boiled eggs (I have heavy aluminum pots that hold in a lot of heat.)
