Thats stupid to even think that, anyone who can restore a car to that extent knows what they're doing, just because someone's a "professional" doesn't mean they know shit about classic cars. I'd like to get a family restored car like this one over a professional because you know the person that built this car obviously lived in the day these cars where on the road, and he/she knows the little details that professionals don't pay attention to. Especially if its their "hobby".
I don't think its "stupid" to think like that at all. That is my opinion, you have your opinon, I have mine. That is not a good way to strike up a conversation. I am well aware of many family built cars that are phenomenal, and are regarded as the best. I don't know the history of this car, do you? It could have been put together by an amateur, and it was throw together, who knows what your getting that is the point I am trying to convey.
Well I'm not sure stupid was the right word to use either, and the car could be a complete throw together, which I highly doubt in this case. My point is, that a professional could have just as easily thrown this car together than the family that restored it, even more so seeing that trying to turn a profit is the main goal rather than being just a hobby. The car could be a complete basket case, all I'm saying is professional or family built shouldn't have an influence on your view of the car.
My father has an "R" code mach 1.. he sold it back in 1976 then bought it back from his friend 3 years ago.. It had been in storage and the guy couldn't keep it because he couldn't pay his bills. Its Calypso Coral red with black striping and interior, with the 428 cobra jet!!!!

The father and family restoration as a "hobby" would concern me not that the car doesn't look nice, it does. I would prefer a professional resto.
