You know, I was just listening to Samuel Ramey sing this, and you can't say enough about him as a singer for the ages, but the interpretation doesn't touch this one. This was an actor first, who put his guts on the line to LEARN to sing for the role.
I am happy for the vinyl -- pops and all. :) Thank you.
I only discovered this in the late 80's-early 90's so mine was on cassette, but I wore that bitch out and sang along with every word. Our neighbor dropped by while I was singing along with it and had tears in his eyes even though I think I was singing "Aldonza", brings back amazing memories for me!, there's never been a version to rival it!

@Naoighiallach379 -- skips and crackles is not a pleasureable listening experience - but with my father's and some of my older brother's albums it's kinda nostalgic - when i started purchasing my own vinyl albums in the 80's I tried to treat them with care and keep them as unblemmished as possible - the diamond needle and vinyl's physical resonance sure beats the binary code cd's anyday, in my opinion. Of course virgin vinyl doesn't have the digital cd sound quality when one uploads it on YT.
I grew up hearing this on Satuday mornings and afternoons when the whole family had house cleaning day, in and out, not just tidy. This album actually belonged to my father--the vinyl is older than me ! He would also play the musicals Shenandoah, My fair lady, Oklahoma, Guys and Dolls, Jesus Christ Superstar, Fiddler on the Roof, Hello Dolly, Camelot, Annie get Your Gun and also Annie among many others. Probably why my older brothers started liking rock music in the late 60's early 70's--haha
I was also going to upload R. Kiley as Cervantes as Don Quixote singing "Dulcinea" but this one was always my favorite from this skippy and scratchy old album.
I know this play very well. I love this musical. I want to see it and I will. :)
