Well it's not an all Black crowd, so your point is mute. Political scientists have always studied the racial makeup of political parties and movements. Race/social/economic class/religion/family life are all important forces of political identification.

Race matters in American politics due to our long history of turbulent race relations.  when Blacks push forward, they usually provoke a push-back from Whites. It's no surprise that some Whites feel intense discomfort with Obama.
