i wish i had watched this before i started, i had no idea that you could buy precut squares. I've since found a few places in the uk which do this also and it was much easier this time!
I have never pre-washed my pre-cuts and I have never had any problem. I use good quality fabric and just sew them up. If yours shrunk you will need to cut them down to a uniform size and then you can do with them what ever you would do with a charm pack, so all is not lost!
I washed my charm packs and they did shrink. Now I have to figure out what to do with them. I washed 500 of them then ironed them. The are all different sizes. Don't know what to do with them.
Jenny, I watched this tutorial and decided that I would make my first quilt using the Charm Packs. A quilting friend warned me about pre-washing the Charm Packs. She said they shrink and some of the dyes run.
@minois100@minois100 We do NOT prewash any precuts! It has been discussed on our forums and you can go there for other quilters opinions!! I hope this helps you with your decision! Happy quilting!
@marysplan This is American Primer from two years ago. You won't be able to find it anymore, but just shop around and find a charm pack swatch that you like and try one! They are very cost effective and you always get something fun!
I've noticed that you don't sew backward at all when sewing two charm packs together, does that mean that you are not knotting it, just sewing though?
Hi Jenny! I just bought my first jellyroll, and charm packs from you. What wonderful shipping, and fast! Thank you! I am so nervous about making my first quilt, and I have watched your videos about 5 times now. I start this weekend. I can't wait!
Hi...We have had several hand sewers that were afraid of their machine, but it gets better all the time. When you start you can use binder paper (with the lines on) and practice getting the feel of the machine and staying on the lines on the paper, without using your thread. I have actually sewn my finger before and while it hurts...it heals and clearly it is not enough to keep me from sewing. So Start slow and get comfortable and in no time you will have the confidence you need! Good luck.
I have found your site and have watched them all ...I went out to buy 2charm packs and 1 jelly roll of the same material But now what can I make can you please help....
Thanks for this great video. I have a bunch of charm packs - I am crazy about fabric - but did not know how to sew them together. Your instructions were crystal clear.
I just love watching your vidios I use to quilt as a kid but gave it up for years and im wanting to get back into it. Im looking looking online for tips and reminders hehe. Yours are great because they're curt, to the point and you can see what your doing. And the room is always so well lid up ... Great personality too.
I love your videos! They are very informative and please keep the charm square ideas coming. I have a full tub of them
I was wondering how many packs would it take to make a queen size and how much fabric for the borders?
Thanks
Mandy

idk why but i have a fear of using a sewing machine. i fear my finger's gonna get stuck or caught in between the thing that sews the fabric together.

What can I say I am a wild woman! No it really is best to remove your pin before you get to it. Thanks for bringing this up!
Jenny
jennydoan57 2 years ago
I always pull my pin right before the needle gets to it...aren't you afraid it will hurt your machine or break your needle?
