Talk about milking it, but on the other side it's nice to see people within the system deal with what so many other people deal with in so many BS law suits. The sad (very sad) fact of the matter is she has a case. Yes, as pathetic as that is. My best friend dumped his gf as best as one could let someone go and she then said they never dated and he raped her. No evidence needed here in the USA to turn someones life upside down. 2 years of court later it was a mere dismissal.

What was so offensive about that? Doubt anyone in that courtroom thought, nor here on this website thinks, she is an illegal alien. Instead, most understand the notion that illegals are one few groups which would not get a SS statement.
To be honest, she really got upset only because she was slammed while trying to argue with a judge (never a good idea) who was not accepting her premise. Her case was going down in flames and she, upset about that, decided to bail out.

It never cease to amaze me how every little situation in this country quickly turns to racism. IMHO, this judge did nothing wrong except being a little unprofessional. Clearly, this attorney was losing the case. Yes, it was a poor choice of words but he wasn't inferring her to be illegal. Something in the line of "so now, you're all of a sudden telling me you're an illegal alien that you haven't been receiving your SS statement in the last 3 years?" probably could have made a difference...

I think this judge needs a bit of sensitivity training because had she been a white lawyer or even a black one that comment would not have come out of his face. So for anyone who missed it, that's why it's offensive.
I'm not one to pull the race card but this is an instance in which it was clearly a factor.
We have to stop making "that's not what he meant" excuses for people like this. Think before you speak and then say what you mean.

I personally didn't find that offensive; however, I found it totally unprofessional for a judge, and elected member of justice, to say that remark in a hearing.
