  • thats good for the U-joints

  • Hey Nice truck and vid I just got a D900 Dodge with a 8V71N I was thinking of a turbo too but I may opt to biuld a set of custome headers and a jake first , is that a tractor or a straigh truck? I saw somthing in the last part of the vid ?

  • @slimG2082 Thanks for watching! It's a twin-screw tractor but the fifth wheel has been removed and the camper has been bolted to the frame where it was. Congrats on your D900! I love the 8v71 but always wanted to find a turbo model..

  • @turbosuperiority Well it is easy to find a turbo to fit and then u just need to do some plumbing , thanks I hope to have it home soon , I will post some vids of it when I do get it home

  • congrats

  • Sweet truck, great job man-handling that hoss!

  • @TheAmazingMikey Thanks Mike! I've been traveling abroad and watching how "gentle" these guys are driving their busses and trucks makes me want to get back behind the wheel of the ol girl and give her hell!

  • Turbo charged?

  • @bigdaddymatty17 No unfortunately it's an 8v71N which is the non-turbo model. I'd love to get my hands on a 8v71T some day.

  • yeahhhhhh keep slamming those gears!!!! more videos please!!!!! have fun and forget about negative comments people make.

  • keep having fun, do not throw that truck to the scrap-yard. keep good ol' trucks alive. Bet you can't have this much fun with today's E.P.A trucks...they are so quiet and boring.

  • @EM6285

    Amen bro

  • Awesome truck and vid!! 2-stroke Detroit Diesels...NOTHING sounds better!! Nice shifting man, livin the dream :)

  • cool truck, fun to drive i bet, one heck of a strong motorhome.....cool!!

  • boy that bring back memories

  • Cool...looks like it could be an old Ringsby truck. thanks for posting!!

  • its got a sleeper still? or did you take it out

  • 13spd..."speed shifting" using Jakes...common practice here in the Islands,

    especially shifting twin sticks...

  • damnnnnnn!!!

  • holy crap man. this thing sounds great.

  • sweet!

  • AWESOME, Nothing compares to the sound of a Detroit Diesel. I was weaned on a 71 White Freightliner, 8V71 and 13 speed Roadranger, single O/D spliter though. Sounds like you got a Jake too. Sweet.

  • Oh one more thing. Stop lugging that engine. Detroits love it over 2100 rpms. Thats where they rule. My Pop had his turned up to around 2450...with bigger injectors. N70's I think. Keep up the good cog swapping.

  • You got it made cuz, I was you drag racin in another video

  • I miss the big steering wheels that were on the old trucks.

  • what kind of transmision are you running? 4to 4 air? just wondering because it looks like your spliting the top one 3 or 4 times each

  • @richardtheone The trans is an Eaton model#12513 13 speed with a 3 position air splitter. You have reverse at top left, 1st at lower left, and the shift pattern is 1-5 in low, then flip the splitter switch to the middle position "direct" and shift into 2nd (middle top) which gives you 6th gear. For 7th simply shitch the splitter switch into high or "overdrive". For 8th throw the splitter back to direct and shift down into the 3rd gear position (lower middle) and so on.

  • Hey man nice Freight Shaker. Do you have to have your CDL to operate it or is it classified as a RV?

  • Yeah she's registered as an RV so no CDL. Thanks for the good comments!

  • nice gear jammin hoss lol time to take on a few rice grinders lol very nice rig

  • i dont blaim u i love the old trucks especially the detroit powered ones, if you sell it tell me about it

  • Thanks and I'm glad you like my truck but the problem is that I do too and she's not up for sale right at the moment.. I've had way too much fun with her so far to let her go yet :-)

  • ncie man soudns great u started out with a 6v71 and now a 8v71 i think ur gonna have too got too the big bad 12v71 as ur next truck

  • Or an 8V-92TA.

  • sounds beautiful

  • Wow dude.... Who taught you how to drive????

  • The old girl sounds sweet take good care of her...and keep having fun cracking those gears.

  • I want in our freightliner now!

  • As a truck driver myself, I thought he did pretty darn GOOD. I'm sure he was running through every gear just for the video, and didn't have any kind of a load on.

But then again, I'm not the kind of A-hole that needs to insult people to make myself feel better...

  • midell: stop hating, your comments aren't necesary at all. Obviously he is a guy that likes Freightliner and/or Detroits, evident by him posting videos, and #2 this being his 2nd Freightliner with a Detroit. Great vids!

  • you gotta start somewhere, bud.

  • With "true" 2 6" stacks that rig will sound sweet! not to loud but those old 318's have a sound of their own!

  • Please invest in 2 6" streight stacks on that bad boy the she will "talk" its easy to do....

  • Madre Mia.

  • the front cab mounts and the shifter box was worn out. really mabe it hard to shift. plus the steering box was worn out and about couldnt get it to turn. i about had to put foot on dash and pull on steering wheel with both hands just to make it around a few turns. the only thang nice about the truck was it had the 318 turbo fuel squezer with duals exhaust and sounded real nice. but had no power to pull a hill. i would have rather drove a white road boss day cab and sleep across the seats.

  • that was a pertty good gob of shifting for an old cabover freightliner. i used to drive a 74 cab over with the big 102 cab. it was a real treat when it rained. water would come in around the loose window seal and splash right in my face and there would be a steady stream of water running from under the dash right on to my foot that i had on the fuel pedel.
