Saw Helen O'Connell sing this at the old Sunnybrook ballroom, Pottstown Pa, back in the day and ended up falling for an English blond with green eyes who I never had a chance with but she was and always will be, A Lady in every way!!
Okay, big band music was in vogue before I was born, still I always loved it and am still impressed with the ladies who could perform Big Band style. Sometimes I feel as if I did live in that era and wish I did. Great music, great deliveries. Oh yes.
I'm 88 now and when I left home to go in service during WWII Helen was one of the greatest big band vocalist. I was pleased that I had the opportunity to see her in person at Disney World in the 1970's. Thanks to ones that have provided these great recordings for us to enjoy.
I saw her as an old woman in the 1990's a few years before she died. She was truly a diva on stage. Someone in the audience yelled that she wasn't singing loud enough and she said, "If you want me to talk instead of sing I don't have a problem with that. It's much easier."
what a cutie!

My favorite female singer from that era, though Judy Garland is a close second.

@neb2351 would have been great to see Helen live.
Just saw Beyonce on YOU-TUBE & cannot fathom how she sold 72 million records.
The majority of today's singers would not have a clue as how to sing a song properly.
I am 68 yo & still love these real singers.

@BlogShag Love hearing it. Let us never apologize for aging and shame those who seem to think they're exempt. ;~)
