actually there is a sand cicada trick in the sand sea.

there you can get 99 cicadas in 30mins

i think you missed two gratidue crystals in that pumpkim place, and that carry pumpkim side quest thingy. or i might have just not watched those

I believe he's saving them to get the five remaining individual ones all at once. They do you no good until you have all of them anyway.
