The info is wrong on this video. Wilson and McCracken were not involved in this early Taste track. The band at this early stage consisted of Rory, Eric Kitteringham on Bass and Norman Damery on Drums.
it's common in blues to change some words when you do a cover of a song. many of them did it. a direct example is this song key to the highway which has different version of lyrics by different artists :)
Look Led Zeppelin said that How Many More Times was a tribute for Howlin' Wolf, that's why the title is almost similar, but doesn't they steal it. They didn't steal, only did tributes, but people over exaggerated. And said that they ripped everything, but Jimmy Page rarely 'ripped', it was always Robert Plant taking the lyrics without the rest of the band knowing. Jimmy Page, the only true song he ripped was Dazed And Confused, but he changed it so much and added so much original material to it.
eh what about the lemon song? its killing floor split and with another bassline added and some robert johnson lyrics thrown in.
don't get me wrong, like i love zeppelin, i just think they should've given credit to the real composers, page more arranged rather than wrote some of their songs.
Whoa! what the fuck! the bassline was a solo, JPJ's bass solo!!! I know Led Zeppelin should have gave credit, and I knew that about Lemon Song, did I said it, oops, no... Led Zeppelin just love to jam, and jams are covers, they do credit them, in interviews, but that's kinda all... And in their speech of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame speech, thanking all the blues artists that influenced them....
no, i'm not talking about joneseys solo, i'm talking about the first part of the song, the slow blues shuffle, thats adapted from howlin' wolf's original shuffle. fair enough, but not on an official level, like after howlin' wolf's death his label sued zeppelin for use of his music.
here we go with the zeppelin stealing songs.. holy shit.. every blues band there is.. has covered songs from some other group.. same as country music... learn that in second grade school.
@custardpie40 oh yeah im just home tonight..now i wanna know if ya really know what youre talkin about,if ya dont then shut up...if ya do ,well hear i am...just in case your afraid or not bothered''...rory was a true gift ok, i mean i could go on.....does your guy play sax,or harmonica or anything different.we all love led zep...but just shut upk
@custardpie40 Cover a song, you give songwriting credit to the original songwriter. Steal songs like Led Zep did, you take the songwriting credit instead of mentioning the original songwriter. It landed them in hot water, they're STILL being sued. If you think all blues are the same or something, then you don't really know blues music. I'm a Zep fan too, but I'm honest about their sources. Even Page has admitted plagiarism in interviews, saying Plant was too lazy to change the lyrics enough.
Its on an album called "Rory Gallagher" that you can buy on ebay, thats where I got it. Its not the original Rory Gallagher album that was his first solo effort but the LP has a picture of Rory on the front with his guiar and I think he is in a jean jacket
You're correct. I was in Mervyn Solomons'recording studio at Mallusk when he brought the band in for what I think was their first ever recording session.
RORY REALLY KNEW CHICAGO BLUES ,DELTA, AND ZYDECO

Thanks for sharing tomyman. 5*

It was Norman Damery & Eric Kittergham that accompanied Rory on this track. They were the first Taste Mk1, not John & Richie as above.
