the moral of the story is that if you don't know what the f you are doing, you should probably not eat poisonous berries-you will shit yourself to death
i wish he would have found the answers to the questions he asked in the bar....I want to know why everything is fucked up and why people are assholes all the time.
The moral of the story is people should follow their heart, but not to the point they lose their mind. i.e. going into the wild without adequate training nor supplies
im currently hitch hiking round the world. just me + backpack + guitar... its a whole new world, a world of love, happiness and understanding.
Mccandless learnt that 'Happiness only real when shared', i have found this to be very true, as every day of my adventure is made great by other people
@christophelafosse : Dude...Good for you man. I'll say a prayer that you don't get brutally and randomly sodomized and murdered by someone while on your journey. That would totally put a damper on the whole world of peace and happiness thing. Rape and murder? Totally not Zen.
Great movie, amazing soundtrack. Does anybody know where I can buy Into the Wild posters besides the standard official ones? I've seen some cool wallpaper motifs (even the one with the horses) but got no clue if there's any chance of getting them somewhere.
What a brilliant piece of music that embraces the spirit of this story. A perfect blend of strings, percussion and voice, I love it. He may have died along, but his story is so profound that it has touched millions. That is true power. Brilliant!
What a brilliant piece of music that embraces the spirit of this story. A perfect blend of strings, percussion and voice, I love it. He may have died alone, but his story is so profound that it has touched millions. That is true power. Brilliant!
wonderful movie... love soundtracks and everything about it. I would like to do something like he did.. but I'm weak, i need other human to be with me.
@Ateny06 Needing another human does not make you weak; don't you remember the end? When he wrote, "Happiness is nothing unless shared".. ? I thought that was one of the things that made me cry the hardest about the story. Was the moral that, although he can cast away modern technology and all of the things disconnecting us from our earth mother, .. He realized in the end that companionship is as much of a necessity as oxygen.
I think Chris McCandless' story should be heard and i think Sean Penn and Emile Hirsch did an amazing job with it. If you haven't read the book, i strongly recommend it, it helps alot to better understand Chris and why he did what he did. Some people think he's crazy for what he did, but it makes sense, and if he hadn't died i think alot of people might have felt different about him.
ive stood on mountain tops i swam in an open sea ive ran with horses nothing is better than nature to be free, try it just get up and go i lost my job when i did but i stood on mountain tops
When I saw the movie I started thinking...was he crazy..or is society crazy? I mean, would it be better if he just lived a "normal" life without any meaning or purpose waiting to get old and die?
Because this is what many ppl do with their lives. I admire him very much. I think it takes a lot of courage to stand up and go against what everybody is doing, what his family and friends were doing. He was searching for himself.
I believe we all have our own unique journeys to pursue.
This man was a free spirit who just wanted to be free. His life was made full by the new experiences he had on his journey. Have you not had the calling to just be out there, free in the wild? Society, wealth, and possessions held no importance to him. BEautiful story. Inspirational.
Chris wrote about happiness - shared. His life, his parents held no importance to him. His choices did not change the Society, but did changed and hurted those who cared about him. When he changed his mind and didn't sign Supertramper, it was too late for him.
@genecomm I see your point of view. But in the end of his journal he wrote ""I HAVE HAD A HAPPY LIFE AND THANK THE LORD. GOODBYE AND MAY GOD BLESS ALL!". His happiness was shared through what he wrote and what he loved. His parents should of been happy for him that he found happiness. No one is going to live forever (except maybe God almighty), one must find what they love and do it.
Why are 'ugly' words posted when this song is so beautiful. Everyone makes their own choice in life....some great and some not so terrific. Free Will......the book is as amazing as this song is beautiful. Free Will....
Uh...spanish doesnt translete literally. Take it from a college student who majors in spanish. Plus I am thinking Sam beam and his producers and the Hispanic guy singing the words knew that and wouldn't have made a mistake. ;)
