This is "zipperline" mogul skiing and the bumps are pretty easy. The advice and video are good but only address easier bumps that one can ski a straighter line in. Steep big bumps require a different technique and a rounder line with more active flexion and extension. Still, this is good inn so far as it goes.
cant wait to try next year. Unfortunately at 43, I have no absorbtion and everything is transferred to my back. I had to take a few weeks off last year after too many moguls.
Really enjoy your tutorial, very helpful....My biggest issue is once I absorbed the first 3 or 4 moguls..I tend to lose speed control and tend to seat back causing my skis to lose contact with the snow, and I have to stop to regroup. I will love to know if you have any drill or hints that I could use to develop good speed control, so I can finish the entire course with good form and control. Thanks again... I am 6'0 180# skiing 173 Salomon Tornados. Not a racer--
iv'e been learning to ski the moguls through internet videos etc for the past couple years. Sometimes I get it right, but often I find that after I absorb, its hard to get both my skis down the backside of the mogul to slow myself down. Feels like i'll fall if i twist my legs to far sideways. I usually don't ski perfectly formed race moguls, just ones around in glades etc.
cpt4 I never said use elliott wave when skiing. I use fib ratios which does improve my skiing. With further study skiing could be improved further then I have taken it with the use of fibonacci but few have taken this path. Take a look @ shell shaped holes from the best skier porposing in & out of powder & the fib relationships become obvious. When a great skier makes a zipper line it will often form fib relationships.
Great video. Its worth noting that this (beautiful) mogul field is on a shallow, single fall line slope. Skiing a mogul field on a double fall line or a very steep slope is much more challenging because the moguls are long and huge, with a deep trough and walls so steep you can't just drive over them. In most of the resorts where I ski (MI) these double fall line/steep mogul fields are all you encounter, because they groom all the single fall line slopes daily. Death to the groomers!
mogulbros123 just like individuals cannot perform algrabra untill they have a basic understanding of addition, subtraction, mutiplication & division the same is true in skiining the basic concepts must be understood before one can take thier skiing to a higher level. Perhaps your a dependent thinker & your focus has been on learning how to ski. I understood years ago to be able to take my skiing to a higher level my focus had to be on thinking of how to ski & understand the concepts.
mogulbros123 just like Leonardo da vinchi painted based on a tapestry of fibonacci relationships the best of the best skiers ski based on a tapestry of fib relationships. The death & decay of turns while skiing is most pleasing to the eye when it is based on fib ratios like it is found in nature. The body is a tapestry of fib relationships so why would anyone not want to base thier skiing based on fib relationships.
661MTBDH, guessing will give you a mind that is a junk heap of invalid theories. A better path might be to understand the laws of logic, the principals of thoght to develope a powerfull mind that can cultivate reflective thought from the recording of logic.
This is not the most practical way to ski moguls i.e., instead of driving the hands forward they should be used to make the poles counter balance the body by taking the path of the golden spiral. The tips should be driven down by driving the hips forward based on a tapestry of fibonacci relationships i.e. the speed of travel should accelerate in a parabolic curve based on .618
@MrElliottwave I'm guessing you know absolutely nothing about skiing. As a parabolic curve has nothing to do with this, your speed should be constant. Also, fibonacci numbers has precisely nothing to do with this, as "driving the hips forward" based upon a "tapestry" of fibonacci relationships isn't actually feasible.
@MrElliottwave I know Elliott Wave and I know skiing, and this is the stupidest thing I've ever heard on a theory of skiing. Apply fractals where they're appropriate. If you actually knew how to ski, you'd know it's not a fractal.
The absorption part I agree with. Only I would try to stear a bit more round so I can controle my speed no matter how steep the run is. Because speedcontrol by slamming into the next mogul isn't the solution.
@KiTTYZxL3G1TxR4W hey CHAMP. theres no need to rip on this kid. i know him and he SHREDS in the bumps so shut up! i know for a fact that he could ski better then u. so how bout u kittyZ or whatever ur name is just does LEAVE because this is good advice. id love to see u try to ski better then this kid.
i usually ski downhill with race carve skis but there are sometimes moguls on runs. is it possible to train absorption with race carving skis or do you need a wider body?
I HATE MOGULS...and some skiers....but u seem cooler...the reason i hate moguls is cause i was in breck and i was bombing the mountain...they decided to put moguls in the middle of a terrain park...i hit them...did a double backflip and had that happen to me over and over...
nice!
