@bighands1992 That is fair, for me to make positive points about one of the greatest Presidents of all time. Where shall I begin, as there were so many great things about the man?? First, it is an impossibility that he could be the worse. The economy grew after his policies were implemented, therefore he cannot be the worse. Also, he built up our military to economically break the evil Soviets, and it worked. He lowered tax rates, and yet, took in more revenue. A well read man as well.

And you are correct he greatly built up our military to intimidate the ussr. but the ussr was bankrupt from its occupation of afghanistan and the satellite states were beginning to revolt. and what did reagan do with our huge military? he murdered millions of innocent ppl in nicaragua, el salvador, iran, iraq, and so on. btw his administration labeled nelson mandela as a terrorist.

@bighands1992 Nonetheless, he was a great President in my eyes. He did more good than bad. He gave the American people hope for a brighter future. He was a positive man who came along at the right time. Your comment about the Soviets is very debatable. Yes the Afghan war weakened them, and yes the satellites were getting restless, and without the pressure that Reagan put on them, they might have been able to hang on, but Reagan and his policies pushed them over the edge, in my opinion.

Maybe you were busy sucking your thumb when we got into the 1982 recession, but it was just as bad as this one (at least so far). Reagan and his cabinet worked with Tip O'Neil and Congress and they came up with a plan to cut taxes and spend some to help the country recover, and it did over the next several years. And nobody panicked like the current gaggle of Chicken Littles who have never had to support a family through a recession.

I've heard pols fall into two types:

1. The Fox: knows many little things (i.e. a technocrat like Carter, Clinton).

2. The Hedgehog: knows only one thing, but it's a BIG thing (i.e Reagan, Churchill, Bush).

Foxes are fine in time of peace when everything is going well. But it's the Hedgehog you want in times of crisis. Reagan was a GREAT president because he focused like a laser on anti-communism (and to a lesser extent on rolling back big govt).

I'm not sure yet which one Obama is.
