My heart goes out to our soldiers fighting to free the people of afghanistan from the manacles of poverty, ignorance and fear that keep them a perpetual cycle desolation. We should admire are governments for fighting in a country such as afghanistan. In a place that is poor in resources and has a lack of economic promise-- we fight to protect a population from the gloating sadists that perform acts insulting to human decency in all its forms. We fight for deliverance from theocratic fascism.
Yeah war is a terrible thing to happen in any country. Your song depicted the tragedies that wars can bring to everybody especially the children who are innocent victims of the conflict by the old generation. Thanks Doug for this song and I hope that leaders from conflicting countries will hear this song.
As usual My Dear Friend. Absolutely awsome. As I was listening to this song I really started thinking. Why dont all of us who really like this song, send it to our senators and representatives and the Prersident. They must have somewhere that they receive E-mail. Wouldnt it be something if we grassrooted this song to them over and over. So they could see how we feel. Thank you again Doug.
Every world leader should imagine cross-hairs on their loved ones before they don their blinders. Every accountable decision-maker on the planet should see and hear this video. War is animated greed in one fashion or another; killing is not its own decision.
Worry some song my friend...so very true...and they need to stop all this fighting over greed...that's all it's all about..... Doug this is a...well said song...hope it will all change some day...if people get sick of it enough maybe the leaders will have to listen...peace is need...
Doug, once again you have touched my heart with your music and words.Stellar...Thank you.A song that touched me on a very personal level too as my son-in-law just returned from Iraq..safely:)
This is a song the whole world needs to hear. Brought tears to my eyes. So far my personal favorite of your works. Thank you for being a part of the solution my friend.
oh my...this is great work. i'm forwarding this t my friend ryan, he has similar videos he has made as well. you truly capture the truth in all this...and people need to see it. your words are a luminous light within all the darness thats created..beautiful song
Very powerful statement. I am seeing some of this up too close. I still work occassionally on a major military installation and see what some of the people bound to and from the war zone are going through, and what it is doing to the communities they come from. I think it was Lenin who said "A bayonet is a tool with a worker on both ends." No wonder the "leaders" are so out of touch with what happens up-or-down-range.
Doug, this is so intense. Your lyrics are real, powerful and so wrenching. Beautiful vocals and guitar melody. Harp makes a sweet break to think and feel. Thank you for your heartfelt inspirational song. Will you be doing a version of A Peaceful Solution? Love to feature you and link to your other songs. Willie would love to hear your work through his project. Liz
Safe Mr.Doug; this will be the 10° time that I listen to this song of his; the lyric is very penetrating is scitta with a feeling almost satisfied in this desert of peace and sails in a sea where many sailors left year theirs because!'!!!Because!'! Because!'!
This was just great man. The emotion that you produced in this song is amazing. Those lyrics I can't explain and your voice is incredible. I can hear the emotion when you sing which really adds to the fullness of the song.
Mate you are 16 and I hear this heart in your voice that is like the bloody jedi and 1000 years old. When you are 50 there will be an epic in every line you sing.
Will Rogers, a great American comedian who taught through his humor much like George Carlin lived back in the Thirties. He is credited with once saying, "Show me a man who says civilization is advancing and I'll show you an egotist". He also said, "God will bless America as long as her natural resources don't run out"! The willingness to kill others is an abomination.
I might say this was thought provoking, but I have had these thoughts for a long time now.. what it is, is, thought evoking. Nice job, too bad it takes all forms of protest to get a common civil message across.
Great song! It depicts so well the human side of war... The human beings' real suffering, not numbers and lists of damages... The same on both sides. And they question each command... Oh if only they would! If only they would question each command!...
In any war, no, those who won. All are defeated. Mothers around the world suffer the same. God, or will the time without war? Thank you for the film. It is extraordinary, important.
Absolutely great Doug. I definitely agree withFrAnK, it rates up there with Sinkers, Hooks and Things in lyrical and musical quality. Good to see you back in the game here. Mark
It used to take me a week before i whistled Dylan songs in the shower. Im doing yours after on listen and before the bloddy songs finished even 5pluuuussssss
Only if the actions were as simple as it seems. A mother lost her son in the war a few years ago, she camped outside President Bush's Texas ranch during the Thanksgiving season, all she wanted wanted to know was what did he die for? That mother did have an audiance, a several followers in fact...President Bush; he answered neigther her nor the nation.
The words that you sing aren't political, they're just common sence.
you are a very talented musician, sometimes things are easier to say in song especially when so painful.people need to realize what happens when a war is started no matter how graphic the images may be.the government needs to be aware of every innocent person killed.maybe if they watch and listen to this video they may start paying more attention to everyone hurt by the war and not just the terrorists
Another lovely song and thoughtful lyrics. I will confess I hid the video as soon as I started to see dead bodies of torn apart children. I think the gory images detract from your song. We don't need to see dead bloody people (which is against Yt TOS), this is just my honest opinion.
I'd suggest u warn viewers about the gore! Or maybe even remove it.
War is a terrible thing, and lets just hope and prey the leaders of this crazy world will one day stop the killing.
The highest compliment I can give you, Doug, is that my father, a decorated veteran from WWII, would have stood and applauded this stunning song... and I as his daughter am standing now... and applauding both for him and for me. The power and passion of this beautiful piece of music...may it travel from your heart to the hearts of the people who promote these horrible conflicts.
My heart goes out to our soldiers fighting to free the people of afghanistan from the manacles of poverty, ignorance and fear that keep them a perpetual cycle desolation. Far more than merely well done...it is extreamly well written & performed...
BUT am I the only one encountering severe loading problems?
The Leaders (?) of every land seem to be pirates all...
Where are there voices?
The days of George Washington are long gone. No more leaders into the battle... They lead from too great a distance.
