@Valorisblack nope, i think even mewtu makes a similar noise. at that time the developers didn't have as many possibilities as now ^^ i think that's the cause

you can also use the guy to the left of nugget bridge as the first guy and the swimmer in misty's gym as the second buy that you actually do battle, and you can get a mew before you even beat misty :)

Odd... from everything I've heard in official releases, online, and, well... pretty much everyone I've talked to, there's no super secret way to just catch Mew. And yet... this video has only four downvotes and a ton of people talking about "how they did it"

...Either everyone here has de-aged back to eight years old and are just lying about how they got Mew, like we all did back in 1998... or there might actually be something here.

This is absolutely off the wall. Gonna have to dig out my old Blue version now. But can it really be called a glitch? They had to program Mew into the game in order for it to appear, and to have a number and Pokedex entry.

Maybe it was included as a way to deal with a glitch. The developers said "Ok, any time the game gets some bad data and doesn't know what to do, make it go to this preloaded battle." The rarity of this event was also a way to ensure that Mew remained extremely hard to find.

@SOAHCSOAHCSOAHC Well as far as I know Mew was intentionally included in the game BUT in order to get it you had to go to Nintendo-Cons/Events where you could get it legally, when you had your gameboy with you. So this is in fact a glitch because you can catch Mew where you aren't meant to catch it :]

@MisanthropicKanoran Dumb. Fuck. Events did not EXIST when Red/Blue/Yellow was released. ALL 151 pokemon can be legitimately captured or traded for within the game, with the exclusion of the other 2 starters. The Nugget Bridge Mew glitch is the only way to get it in the game. This "glitch" is BS, but the nugget bridge is legit. Buy a cartridge and try it.

Actually, you don't need that particular trainer (the second one you showed, not the trainer with a Slowbro). I did it with the trainer that's to the left, just across the water beside of nugget bridge just after beating Misty. You do the same thing basically, just go up to the first square left of and above the water (if that makes any sense) and then walk directly down and press start at the same time. Then go back and fight the youngster. I used Abra and teleport though, and it still works.

@RobotUnicornMadness This is right, basically, any trainer who is scrolled onto the screen by the same step that puts you in their vision range will work. However, you MUST get back to whatever route was the place you met the first trainer, which is not necessarily Route 8.

I saved the game near a trainer then I just kept on walking in front of them while trying to press the start button as fast as I could....it was mostly luck and many, MANY tries with me having to turn off the game and try again every time I failed....took me a few days actually...and when the start menu actually popped up I was so shocked and happy.

No, I'm sorry but that will not work. It would be easier to start a new game on a different cartridge and work the code. Then you can send Mew to the game you'd like to have him on via the transfer cable.

@yasonadams Actually, you could change the first one into whichever trainer challenges you as soon as you're on screen in their sight. But even then, the second one MUST be this dude on road 25.

@andypandy687 you can get mew right after you beat nugget bridge if you don't do misty's gym. right to the left of nugget bridge there's a guy down in the grass that sees you as soon as he comes on screen. you need an Abra thta can teleport you to the cerulean pokemon center. after that go into the gym and fight the swimmer, and then leave. head back up toward nugget bridge and start menu appears. press B and mew appears

it's because of when you miss a battle(fly away from the gambler) you fight a pokemon due to the hex of the special stat of the last pokemon you fought.
