These guys are in their 30s, have been doing this for 20 years, and still have the best showmanship of any band. Just go to any of their shows and you'll know exactly what I mean. They sound and look incredible. If you're lucky enough to get them in a smaller venue, the crowd interaction is unreal. They become one with the crowd, just like at an old school punk show. And I think it'd be hard for anyone who does 5 high kicks a song to hit every note completely right with like CD quality clarity.

I don't get why people think they changed so much. I really don't. Yes, Davey keeps cutting his hair shorter, and yes some of the guitar work is different. But if you listen to some songs you can find similarities with the songs from crash love to even the songs on the sing the sorrow cd. Yes, they changed slightly. But doesn't every band have tiny changes in sound from cd to cd? And in my opinion if every song sounded exactly the same I would get REALLY bored!

Just because his voice sounds different that the album several years ago doesn't mean his voice is "bad." They have been evolving with each album and you cannot expect him to look and sound identical every 4 years. Ever since his surgery, his voice got alot deeper and it doesn't work quite as well for his Sing The Sorrow songs... He sounds great still, but his voice just doesn't sound quite the same for the songs on that album... It works better for his more recent songs from Crash Love.

He's not old, and it's not a mediocre performance. By AFI's standards it's mediocre. By live performances in general it's a good performance. Not many bands I've seen can sound half as good as AFI live so take that into context before commenting on their abilities to preform. People pay for worse performances every day, when they go to 90% of the crap live performances from bands that aren't as talented as AFI.

I've been listening to AFI ever since "answer that and stay fashionable" and have followed them all the way to now but have never seen them in concert. I've been listening to AFI ever since "answer that and stay fashionable" and have followed them all the way to now but have never seen them in concert. Is this how he sings in concert? what's up with the low voice? I'm thinking about seeing them when they come to San Diego with Rise Against but i'm not liking his voice, can anyone help me out with how he really performs? thanks

saw him at ulalume a few weeks back and he just got out of the hospital and sounded amazing live despite being sick...i recommend it

He is very good live, I think that his vocals werent that good here because this was their only performance of 2008. check the same song at Hard Rock Cafe, amazing vocals.
