I had the great honour to work with John on many european tours. We also recorded a fantastic live album with him : Made in Germany ! He was not just a good musician but a great person.I miss him !
I'm a keyboardist myself, and man I love the organ drumming you did, but (and kudos to the rest of the band because they were f***ing AWESOME) I think you did your best work on the flute. Feel free to come to Janesville, WI and let's make some music!
Johnny Heartsman Serpents Touch ... does anyone have this song for me please, I need to get it so that I can play it on my guitar... ask your friends and e-mail me on annatjiec@gmail.com if you can help please..... Thanks.
thank you very much for posting this video. I saw john heartsman in "88" or "89" at Sac State College and he played this song and it totally blew me away. His flute playing was so " Superfly" and "Gansta". That was the only time I saw him but I vividley remember this particular song and now 22 years later thanks to Youtube and GerreeCee I get to relive it again and again and again!!!
I got to play with Heartsman over at Sam's a few times back around the very late eighties. The thing that impressed me so much about him was he was so darn multi dimensional! He was a very special West Coast talent! It didn't matter what he put his hands on, he had wonderful chops!
yeah, that's my dad over there on guitar in the yellow hat! I don't think I was at this particular blues fest, but I went to 100s of others and literally grew up at Sam's Hauf Brau!! Boy do I miss those days :)
God damn, that's funky.

@mojogough His time is phenomenal - as good as Rashan's but he seems to be a bit more melodic - more notes.
