If he read those verses he would not be able to explain how Jesus was able to appear before the disciples when the door to the room was locked. For exactly the same reason why God revealed His message to other prohopets before Jesus. Namely, the previous messages had gotten lost, corrupted, or so distored that it was no longer possible to identify the truth from the distortions, hence a new prophet was needed to revive God's message.

As muslims we don't believe that Islam is a new or different religion. We believe it is the original uncorrupted message/religion of Jesus, Noah, Moses, Abraham, Adam etc etc.
