I'm american and I hate it here. I was born in Russia, and I can barely remember it, but what I know was that it was the most amazing place despite the poverty my family lived in. We came to American and it isn't any better, but here it feels like I'm not welcome. I don't understand why Russians, or any other country want to come here, there's almost nothing here but discrimination and hate. I'd give anything to go back.

Ah, while they're not bashing Americans, I can see some stereotypes that are more assumptions that anything.
Russians and Americans still don't get along very well. Although, with President Obama making a speech at Moscow, it may start to get better.
Most of this "hate" can be related to ignorance. An an American, I don't know much about Russian culture at all. Just looking at what history says, we paint each other as horrible people.
I spent 2 weeks in several Russian cities over the summer -- and well, it was obvious that many Russians have EXTREMELY misinformed ideas about America. It was weird, but no matter where I went, I kept hearing the same cliche' BS like this music video. Yet, it seemed they were disappointed when I did not fit the stereotype IMPLANTED in their minds. And of course, many were wearing t-shirts with English/US stuff, using US technology (cellphones, internet, etc.). Kind of surreal really.
Ultimately, there were some things that were refreshing about Russia -- and that includes the people. But on the other hand, there were many things that were distrubing -- poverty, declining schools/healthcare/food quality, apt buildings without hot water -- and an infrastructure in need of repair. Ultimately, some in the world love to hate America, but deep within themselves they are glad we exists. Like this band for example -- they bash America, but COPY a style of music from AMERICA. :)
I think its unfair just to hate USA, u have many great stuff, going from technology (internet etc) to music (Nirvana, Elvis...). But i think most ppl dont actually hate USA and their ppl, they hate the ones who govern USA. All those criminals like Bush, the CIA and Pentagon, who were helping talibans during the USSR- Afghanistan war to kill russian soldiers, same in Chechen and Georgia wars..not to mention all the other crimes they made around the world in the name of "democracy"

One day, my Russian friend and I picked up an old man hitchhitching. As he rode with us, he told about fighting the Nazi's in the Great Patriotic War (fasinating) AND, that both his sons and grandchildren now live in California!!. I also found that many Russians still carried Cold War era stereotypes about America

This song is very powerful. I feel bad that there is so much distance between The US and Russia. The cold war has endedr over a decade now, and still we have people in both nations spewing irrational hate and pointing fingers. Both countries have histories that we not be proud of. (I know I'm angry about the Iraq war...) But there is beauty and culture in both countries. We're different nations, but we're all human, and in the end, we all basically want the same things. Mostly peace.

I'm american and I hate it here. I was born in Russia, and I can barely remember it, but what I know was that it was the most amazing place despite the poverty my family lived in. We came to American and it isn't any better, but here it feels like I'm not welcome. I don't understand why Russians, or any other country want to come here, there's almost nothing here but discrimination and hate. I'd give anything to go back.

@screamingnightmares Im sorry you feel that way. Not to be nosey, but what negative experiences have you had to lead you to think that only hate and discrimination is in the USA? I hope you meet better people, come into better circumstances, and get to see that the USA is not all bad. If you do end up returning to Russia I hope you find the happiness you did not find here (yet hopefully).

@livvinrussian I understand better now. Its natural for people to feel more comfortable or have better feelings for their homeland than another country. I still hope that you who are not originaly from USA have good experiences and not just bad ones while here though. If and whenever you move back I wish your depression to go away and for you to have a good life. I would also be depressed if I moved from my home country. Ah, while they're not bashing Americans, I can see some stereotypes that are more assumptions that anything.
Russians and Americans still don't get along very well. Although, with President Obama making a speech at Moscow, it may start to get better.
Most of this "hate" can be related to ignorance. An an American, I don't know much about Russian culture at all. Just looking at what history says, we paint each other as horrible people.
That's not true though. For either of us. :)

I spent 2 weeks in several Russian cities over the summer -- and well, it was obvious that many Russians have EXTREMELY misinformed ideas about America. It was weird, but no matter where I went, I kept hearing the same cliche' BS like this music video. Yet, it seemed they were disappointed when I did not fit the stereotype IMPLANTED in their minds. And of course, many were wearing t-shirts with English/US stuff, using US technology (cellphones, internet, etc.). Kind of surreal really.

Ultimately, there were some things that were refreshing about Russia -- and that includes the people. But on the other hand, there were many things that were distrubing -- poverty, declining schools/healthcare/food quality, apt buildings without hot water -- and an infrastructure in need of repair. Ultimately, some in the world love to hate America, but deep within themselves they are glad we exists. Like this band for example -- they bash America, but COPY a style of music from AMERICA. :)

I think its unfair just to hate USA, u have many great stuff, going from technology (internet etc) to music (Nirvana, Elvis...). But i think most ppl dont actually hate USA and their ppl, they hate the ones who govern USA. All those criminals like Bush, the CIA and Pentagon, who were helping talibans during the USSR- Afghanistan war to kill russian soldiers, same in Chechen and Georgia wars..not to mention all the other crimes they made around the world in the name of "democracy"

@Subliminalverse13 You make some excellent points. And yes, America's reach is long in the world. I spent 3 weeks in Russia last summer -- a 12 hour train ride south of Moscow. One day, my Russian friend and I picked up an old man hitchhitching. As he rode with us, he told about fighting the Nazi's in the Great Patriotic War (fasinating) AND, that both his sons and grandchildren now live in California!!. I also found that many Russians still carried Cold War era stereotypes about America

Keep in mind, a lot of that was instilled into Russians via propaganda during the USSR days and, there are still several generations of Russians that are byproducts of such. Conversely, I had my own share of false stereotypes about Russians ...

This song is very powerful. I feel bad that there is so much distance between The US and Russia. The cold war has endedr over a decade now, and still we have people in both nations spewing irrational hate and pointing fingers. Both countries have histories that we not be proud of. (I know I'm angry about the Iraq war...) But there is beauty and culture in both countries. We're different nations, but we're all human, and in the end, we all basically want the same things. Mostly peace.
