@Robert254822 not really. Sometimes your ISP's DNS goes down. Then your internet would be infinitely slower than opendns.

Last week i was having so many problems with my ISP's DNS. Didn't know what to do. I just had to deal with it. When the internet worked again, i was interested in looking for tweaks and just happened to come across this idea. (in the end I decided to go with Norton DNS) So I've just solved my original problem!

@ledsith I get better ping for MW2, and YouTube loads 4x faster, but also I use Opera, which uses a huge cache to store site info. If you change your DNS in on your laptop, and use opera, you'll have a faster internet, this is pretty much a cheat code to get faster Internet, sometimes page loading isnt greatly increased, but playing online FPS that is connection based, you'll see a huge difference.

It doesn't speed up a damn thing, except maybe your name resolutions. Cached DNS is nothing new, and just wait until that cached name resolution falls out of date! That's fun to deal with.

FYI, any competently run ISP will have a set of redundant DNS systems set up at the gateway to the trunkline, so don't bother with it.

It's site filtering features are nice if you don't want to drop the effort on setting up your own local DNS server.
