  • BTW... whatever happened to that reporter you had who always wore a hat, the one who was in the Harrison Ford version of "The Fugitive" in 1993?

  • If this is indeed from 1990 this theme was a custom made theme for WBBM using the "I love Chicago" signature and not the O&O Music. No other stations to my knowledge used this theme.

  • Yeah, the 'BBM rendition has its own feel... but, as a native NYer, I stand by the WCBS rendition used in the late 80s as best in all CBS Land.

  • Is Linda McLennan Canadian? She sure sounds like it.

  • yes she is

  • Wow...I live in Chicago and never knew that Linda was Canadian!

  • I'm Bill Kurtis & you know my lovely wife...Donna LaPietra (all done in Bill Kurtis' voice...LOL)...if you are from Chicago & know who Roe Conn/Steve Dahl are, you know they both do a perfect imitation of him

  • If anyone knows the name of the announcer who did this news open voiceover, please post it here. I've heard him for years on KOIN-TV in Portland, Oregon, and other stations. He's great at those VO's.

  • It's the legendary Charlie Van Dyke, still doing the job on lots of local stations, was formerly a DJ during the heyday of Top 40 Radio.

  • Thank you. I've heard him doing station promos and liners for over 20 years. He's another one of the last few good announcers in the business.

  • does anyone have the open before this one. The one with the roving chicago skyline. I think that's what it was.

  • Wow...that map was really off...Elgin is NOT that close to the Wisconson border. This is back when 'BBM was #1 right?

  • Gosh I love that version of Channel 2's theme, they should go back to using it.

And how 'bout that Linda MacLennan?! What a fox!

BTW, yes, Jay Levine is still there - he serves as chief correspondent.

Steve Baskerville's still there as well, the only one who is from the team in this video. And he's one of the few at the station who've survived 20 years of constant flux.

  • I agree. This is my 3rd most favorite rendition right next to the original and the KCBS late '80s version. Great find.

  • Is Jay Levine still at CBS 2?

  • He's still there.
