The game on Gamer mode is hard as it is, and you beat it with the most impossible combination in the game, Mickey Scymon and his F15 Strike Eagle, known in-game as the Tomcat.

i had trouble playing this game after defeating the submarine and the wolfpack. the other stages afterward, either died within a minute on the stage or didnt make it to them. i definitely didnt make it to this stage, but now at least i get to see how it looks.
@ZeroX1803 It does have a limited arsenal. That and the weapons it does have are ment to deal damage to things directly infront of him (other than cluster of course). It even says on the plane's description that it is ment to hit enemies directly in front of it.
man you lost the shield at the first boss at 3:14, suddenlly u got it back when u defeated him at 3:27, the same thing happened at 4:41 and again suddenly u recovered it at 5:02. man, i would like to know what happened, what cheat did u use to do that twice

This should be rereleased as is on Nintendo DS. Although the version I played on Amstrad CPC was not this version. The final level was (I think) you had to destroy a submarine or battle ship. Music was different too than this.
Its funny. This game is more popular 15 years after its release. It sold poorly when it came out. Thats probably why we haven't seen a VC release yet or remake for Xbox Live. Always thought this was the best shooter ever. Even better than Ikaruga. Damn good effort in gamer mode!

Just did this mission with F-5 Tiger with shin on gamer difficulty. That means much less manuverability and much less ammunition. Barely had enough to kill the last boss. A nice challange if u ask me.
"Shin increases his firepower the most quickly, Mick can shoot two special weapons at the same time, and Greg recovers from being damaged twice as fast as the others" is what the manual states. In actuality, this means that Shin requires the least power ups to increase the vulcan cannon level, Mick benefits the most from ammo pickups, and Greg's description is self-explanatory.
That was incredible. As for serspring, U can use mega crush with the crusader to kill the trucks in 1 pass very easy and make like 15k its alot faster that way.
I can only beat the planes, boats, and the forest to desert stages with the crusader and then I need the efreet to beat minks and the rest. Something cool is if you can kill one of the truck stages in 1 swoop with a lvl 4 crusader on gamer mode. I have. Twice. Holy shit.....when I played this game I didn't even know about the different ending on hard. I just would keep saving up pow and money by doing the forest level over and over again, and then I would save enough for the best plane. That was the only way I could beat it. Cudos to you sir!
Nostalgia. UN Squadron is nothing compared to R-Type 3 difficulty though. Hell I thought I was hotshit when I beat Wolfpack's stage with the Crusader and the canyon stage with the Tigershark. Kudos.

I'm using the Tomcat over the 1 million $ plane that most people would be using. A lot less weapons and power available, but it's the fastest plane in the game.
I just watched all your vids (thought I'd go back and watch how the time was when I played this game hardcore) and the missions was very well played through.
You took some damage here and there but the abilities was very well executed.
However, if you are up to challange ME (if you haven't tried that feat yet): Beat the game with the first playable aircraft; the F8E.

Shin = Rises up default shooter's very fast, but recovers slow from hit and has low hp

the only advice i have is, when using megacrush you're invincible, so go in and attack the middle of the last boss.
that's what i do.

very hard and very time consuming... but fun as hell..love this game.. in fact i think im guna pull out the ninteno and play it right now!

unless you play this game, you can't understand how hard the gamer mode is. i've had this game since 1994 and i still havn't beat it. great game.

finixhed arcade on 20p at new college durham 14 years ago. didn't even lose a life. though i've heard this version is far tougher.bloody good game. golden axe on one credidt too. those were happy days. now's not so good. ps3 is helping me though

lol nice... i beat the game when i was like one of my favs... you kicked ass..it was nice to see someone still playing this!!! my fav level was when your in the clouds facing the b2 bomber and my favorite plane was the a10 warthog cus it shot forward and on the gound..taking out AA vehicles ;) but you did it good with f14 i never could use that plane and beat the game

I'm using the Tomcat over the 1 million $ plane that most people would be using. A lot less weapons and power available, but it's the fastest plane in the game.

I applaud for you.
I just watched all your vids (thought I'd go back and watch how the time was when I played this game hardcore) and the missions was very well played through.
You took some damage here and there but the abilities was very well executed.
However, if you are up to challange ME (if you haven't tried that feat yet): Beat the game with the first playable aircraft; the F8E.

This brings back warm memories. The funny thing is that I find that boss from that Mountain Cave (the one that's upside down) a lot ahrder than the final boss.

UN Squadron.. I must've beat this game on hard a fifillion times. Always bugged me you couldn't re-play the game with the cash you had earned. Using the Efreet on those first levels would be FUN -Coolest game ever I think- Thanks for puttin this up!

Omg this is the best game i ever played back when i was small. I was so addicted that i actullay saved up all the money and only used the first plane through the whole game. Now i cant even do squat in this game anymore lol. Good times.

Thats awesome I love this game ive been playing it since i was 6 and still cant enough of it...mad props though. One question, how did you turn your shield on and off at will? I've never seen that done before and also what version is this because I've beaten the game one too many times and I havent seen that ending before and was just curious.

That's actual game speed, including the dreaded SNES slowdown that happened with early SNES games when too much stuff was on the screen.

I really appreciate your putting up these vids. I think this game is really underrrated. I'd play it just as willingly as I'd play Gradius, if not more. And excellent work by the way, avoiding those blue ships is a pain.

Excellent work. This game is one of my pavorites for the SNES, and it takes a lot of skill to beat without Game Genie.
How did you get the shield to go on and of throughout the final match? I never did figure that out...

It's just a glitch in the video. The video when uploaded on Youtube doesn't encode all frames, so at times the shield doesn't show since it flickers.
