Please do not listen to people who make under educated comments about things they have little to no clue about. 1080p and 720p have a large difference between them. You can tell the difference on a 20inch screen let alone a 40. These are the same people who think DX11 doesn't exist. Buying samsung is like playing russian roulette that you won't be screwed.
you clowns just take a warranty with an external company....you have to pay after the one year..but its hassle free..the same price it costs to call out an engineer is the same price you pay for cover for a year or 2 years....some stores do 3 4 5 year warranties.....LG breaks down too...all brands break down...The LG I have has broken down 3 times in the first year of purchase!
If you want reliability stick to Sony or Panasonic even they still break down but rarely.

BTW I managed to fix my tv by replacing 2 blown caps. Less then 30$ for caps + soldering equipment versus 500$ repair bill from a Samsung certified repairman. Fairly easy to do, but all because Samsung decided to use 1 cent extremely cheap capacitors to save a few pennies on manufacturing costs. I will be very careful buying a Samsung product from now on.
Gotta agree, TV's failed today after less then 1.5 years (which conveniently of course is just after Samsung's 1 year warranty). Once I looked online for my problem, found many many people with the exact same problem (google 'samsung lcd power', don't even need to add 'problem'), with Samsung telling them tough luck and to pay 400$ for labour and parts.
I confirmed the problem opening the tv, will try fixing tomorrow it and report back. It stinks because it was a good tv otherwise.

I know I have a 360 and it is loud. Especially at night time. When i 1st got it i thought something was wrong wit it cause the shit was so loud but its the fan. But after you play it for a while its not that bad. I heard the Ps3 is way quieter thats good. But i like the 360 the controller is better. And I hear Ps3 online sucks. But I might get a Ps3 for MGS4 when I get some more money.
Its also the biggest we can fit in the TV space at our new apartment. I have it in there now, I should take a video and upload it, there is about an inch on either side. =). I would like to have had 50 ish but for the money and the quality it is amazing.
I can clearly see the difference. 50' would have been nice but I'm moving to a smaller place. I ended up selling my 50' sammy (Captain kirk model) for a 40 like the one in this vid. One thing I noticed is that my tv does not have the Samsung "boot up" chime like falcon's. Mine is the series 6 Touch of color.
not bagging ur TV or anything, but sereously, when you get a 1080p tv make sure its atleast a 50'. you cant really c the difference between 720p nd 1080p tv on a 40'. and also, theres no games that do true 1080p yet anyway. but still... a very nice TV.
Not true about visible difference. Not going to argue it with you but I can play BF 2142 or Quake, or WOW at 1920 x 1080 resolution which is freaking aweseome.
I can tell you that the black on my 1080p is wonderful. I used to use projectors for gamming and this TV has changed my world. I must say though, I am not a picky guy. When playing halo, battle field, and watching movies I can not see any trailing.
I hope you don't break up or she'll take the tv with her. Also it's always hard to tell how good a hdtv is when you shoot it with a crappy mini-dv camcorder. I'll have to check it out at bestbuy or some other retail place. It looks like a good tv. I'm thing about getting the LN52A750 myself.
yeah.. I want to get an HD camcorder when the price drops. I think she would take the tv so i need to be good to her. The TV is wonderful. I have had it for several months now and love it. My friends come over to play PS3 or Halo3 and just awe at the quality and color. Samsung has released a few newer models since and they look really good to.

Hi, that TV is (what we call it in the UK, US model numbers are different) from the R88 series, and the max resolution is 720p! Sorry to burst your bubble dude, but that TV isn't 1080p.
I don't know where you get your info, but bring your 720 over and we will look at it side by side. The 1080p looks freaking awsome compared to my 720p. A 1080p runs at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 compared to 1368 x 720. The smaller the screen the more clear and true life its going to look because the pixels are going to be even smaller. However, there are so few games / moves that have the clearity that you would even notice a difference. Thanks for the comment though.
Now that we have had it for a while, it is better than my 22" 2ms LCD monitor for playing Halo3 on my XBOX Elite and Call of Duty and Blu-Ray on the PS3 is freaking sweet. I don't think that we have had a better purchase. We have it mounted on the wall now and connected to a yamaha stagepas 300 sounds system.
