Passing BUD's is difficult enough, then later going through sniper school is also difficult. SEAL's like any Special operations units perform a variety of functions. Utilizing snipers is one of them, recon sniper teams often engage the enemy in extremely close range while moving from location to location. There is a lot of information at there.

As for the phrase "most lethal sniper", I suspect it was concocted by the publisher to hype things up. Chris Kyle clearly states multiple times that he was an average sniper skill-wise, and that the only reason why his kill count was so high was because he was put into these target rich environments (i.e. situational).

Passing BUD's is difficult enough, then later going through sniper school is also difficult. SEAL's like any Special operations units perform a variety of functions. Utilizing snipers is one of them, recon sniper teams often engage the enemy in extremely close range while moving from location to location. There is a lot of information at there.

@WillmB06 He mentioned Hathcock in the book and said that Hathcock was out of his league, and a true legend admired by all snipers (paraphrasing). As for the phrase "most lethal sniper", I suspect it was concocted by the publisher to hype things up. Chris Kyle clearly states multiple times that he was an average sniper skill-wise, and that the only reason why his kill count was so high was because he was put into these target rich environments (i.e. situational).
