@Judyiack It didn't technically, it was an experiment to see if it could work. Just as the Navy bought a few F-16's to see if it would work out. It didn't, but they kept them anyways for NSAWC because it made an excellent training tool handling similar to the Su-27 and Su-35.
@TheBearcat222 Wish I could've been alive. To see that great big shithole of a country dissolve piece by piece in the face of the free world...to see the hell that my parents and grandparents escaped from finally come to an end.
@bertyUK Yeh today's bullshit "documentaries" are all about brawns and muscle and highlighting how cool stuff is, complemented by metal riffs and the like...basically to cater to pea-brained patriotic idiots who don't know shit, nor do they want to know shit.
For the rest of us, who do have brains and want to learn, we can always turn to these awesome retro 80's documentaries ^^
@3992586 No one likes migs...lol

It sucks that the show is sped up.

F14 Tomcats were so dang cool! The often unknown F-111 was a great air craft in its own right.
Joshuajlawn 11 months ago
Thomas F. Conolly, thanks to you, the F-14 was born and now the F-14 TOMCAT is now a legend on the Aviation history

THE BEST DOCUMENTARY
Skybolter 1 year ago
f-14 is just 30% of this documentary...
glazuna 2 years ago 10
It doesnt matter if this is just 30%, we also have to learn about other aircraft that gave life to the F-14, and that's something very good to see
Skybolter 1 year ago
@glazuna
That's because it's informative.
Unlike today's documentaries where people like you just want cheap filler handed on a quick plate.

@Spjungen
Totally agree, apart from the fact you linked pea-head with patriotism.
Over in the UK we have something called the BBC which quite frankly has become a public-funded disgrace with huge left-wing biased.
Documentaries are now all about playing "the victims attitude".
I hope America make the right choice come November.

its actually 75% titanium framework and wing spars
Glenforbes60 2 years ago
Closer to 35% titanium, predominantly in the wing pivot box. The balance is boron, aluminum and steel (landing gear)

holy shit that F-8 took a hard ass landing!!
dimitri02 2 years ago 2
the F-14 is made of titanium. :) Strong and lighter than steel.
ThunderHenshin32 3 years ago
no i think it was plain old military issue aluminium...titanium in mass is too expencive
