  • @ramonasidneybaker LOL...... My comment actually worked out better than I expected. I actually had to come back and look at what I typed on this page to understand why you replied that comment to me.

  • @ramonasidneybaker Thank you. You made me feel better about my comment. To be honest my comment was random.

  • wah wah wah?

  • @andyb0x He's imitating a trumpet. WAH WAH WAH!

  • @CL137626 haha yeah I know, just had to make fun of it

  • It is sad that people over in my country already regard songs like this as "music for old people"? What an insult.

  • This is probaby the first true R&R record even though it was in all reality it was really R&B Jump. Rock & Roll was just a tag that Alan Freed put on music. Even though Bill Haley was country swing he was Labeled Rock & Roll.

  • this is from 1949... not 50

  • @ElijahMFearon - It was recorded in December of 1949 but not released until January of 1950.

  • Very un-PC to call oneself TFM, but this dude is the bomb. Love 'im!

  • heard this song in mafia 2, amazing

  • Try to find a contemporary piano line that drives you like this one does. I hear this and my body just immediately starts jiving.

  • ARGH!!! I keep returning to youtube just to replay this video!!

Don't you wish there was a karaoke version of this?

  • Everytime I see this man or hear his music my first reaction is to smile broadly.

He is uniquely American. We're so lucky to have him.

  • When I say that oh, "rap and hip hop sucks...", well... it's because they simply don't hold up against greats like this!

This song makes you feel real good and up-lifted after listening to it... makes me wanna bring out my Corvette and head out to a diner with a couple of girls and go bowling or swing dancing afterwards!!! Rap and hip hop... well, they tend to make me almost sick of the world and its problems a bit more, each time I listen to it.....-almost-.

  • I love that man. And i hope that i can give him ny biggets hugg and love, because he have with his music give me soo mutch happines an real love in joy. May God be with him, allways he is one of the best music artist I ever had listend too.

I love his, The fat man, he did that song before I was borned. And he makes me so happt. My best wiches is to came to him and just give him a tender warm hug. From me in Sweden..

  • I love this song. Screw rap and hip hop this stuff is the golden age!

  • its sounds so great in the game mafia 2 despite being placed in the wrong time period due to the game and such

  • Did Fats and The Killer ever play together?

  • December 1949...

  • This is SO hard on piano.

  • @rusharbiter12 The man was a mester, thanks for commenting.

  • @01musicfan He still is a master!

  • @rusharbiter12 You're not fat enough.

  • Damn this is great music!

  • An rearly cross over artist who helped bring so called "race music" to the white guys .. thank goodness cos this "honkey" thinks that music would have little soul if it wasnt for these guys from the 50s Keep on rockin Antoinne

  • Great stuff Fats is the definition of awesome.

  • brought to this by the fatman in the film Carny. Has anyone else seen it?

  • Cee Lo Green dreams of being as cool as Fats

  • The Best Part Is 0:00 - 2:35

  • How the hell is he still alive? How old was he when he released this?

  • @Evan0424 He was like 21, he's 83 now.

  • @Evan0424 Yes, he is still alive. He was 21.

  • This song plays when:

    - driving Shubert 38 Panel Truck with MG42

  • So this is what the "Fat Man" nuke launcher is a reference to. Hmm...

  • @wkunzelman1

No, I'm afraid not. The Fat Man nuke launcher is a reference to the bomb the Americans dropped on Nagasaki - The Fat Man.

  • @MarvellousMuffin Ahh... Okay.

  • And Fats is still alive and kickin'. Hope he performs another time this year.

  • Released in December 1949...

  • Where can I find the sheet music for this song? I can't seem to find it anywhere...

  • Hendrix sucked his wah-wahs.

  • great song, but I wouldn't call it rock...not just yet. Boogie Woogie with a slight downbeat.

  • anybody else think of the 3 stooges during the wah wah part?

  • Sounds like rock and or roll to me.

  • Music should still be like this.

  • Give me a thumbs up if Mafia II brought you here.

  • @fireburst102 This is truly a classic, thanks for commenting.

  • this was released the same year my ford f-5 was made. 1949.

  • This was the first rock and roll record. Does anyone know one earlier than Dec. 1949?

  • @103121 Yes wild bill moore Rock n roll Dec. 1947 and a bunch more way before this time.

  • @wesrace1 Thanks for commenting!

  • Right now am reading "Blue Monday" a biography of Fats Domino. So nice to be able to go to youtube and listen to various songs mentioned in the book. Fat Man was "acceptable" lyrics to the song "Junker" which is about a dope user.

  • @jrwjrw88 Thanks for the information, I'll have to look up that book.

  • This is one of my fav songs. So good!!!!!!!

  • @motherfucker Thanks for commenting...interesting screen name :-)

  • 1930s to 1940s, blues, jazz and rock n roll 1950s to 1960s is the best music

  • ...awesome bass work, specially the break from 1:39 to 2:15, simple but earthshakingly powerful. He's a true legend.

  • Comment removed

  • That's what the music still should be.

  • i heard this song first time in the ps3 game mafia 2 sounds great

  • I am tired of hearing that Bill Haley invented rock and roll. delta bluesmen and blueswomen of the 1920s were recording stuff that by any standard was rock and roll. And Fats was the first to popularize it in 1949 with this fine song.

  • Great song, but recording quality sucked. :(

  • The Fat **** from across the river and his 3 bodyguards disliked this video. XD

  • Fats was and is the original mover and shaker that brought our fifties music into the forefront. His music is real with real musicians playing.

Today's music, where everybody tries to play a guitar or should I say "makes noises with their guitar" because they are musically challanged and have no idea how to play or create music.

Fats is one of the greatest.

  • alot of people say rock and roll started with elvis, but i say fats is the true king

  • @jackstein104 I think rock and roll started with the likes for Bill Haley and Fats

  • One of the great early rock and roll songs.

  • @MVillani1985 Thanks for commenting, glad you liked it.

  • my opinion its his best

  • @jackstein104 Thanks for commenting, it's hard for me to choose there are so many great ones

  • what a beefcake

  • He sounds great. No one like him.

  • @78merlot One of a kind.

  • How can 3 people dislike this? Seriously now!

  • @WoodRatGirl I don't know!

  • @WoodRatGirl I think the people that clicked "dislike" were dancing to this and accidentally hit the wrong button.

  • i think the fats domino is considered the ``father´´ of rock´n roll

  • MAFIA 2!

  • @NATEDOGG175 Love mafia2! ;)

  • @RonningVF yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh

  • It doesn't get any better than this.

  • @sl7293 Thanks for commenting. You can't go wrong with Fats.

  • Am I wrong? This sounds more like Rythm and Blues, doesn't it? Love this song! and his wailing it is incedibly like an instrument itself.

  • @andyandymax His early stuff was every much R&B, check out Detroit City Blues, the other side of this record. Thanks for commenting.

  • Best song on Mafia II

  • over million sold dude fats is so fucking legit!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Best song from Mafia 2!

  • @HotOnYourTrail hell yeah.

  • the trumpet wah sounds so much like a person

  • @shordyinabox Great observation! In reality it wasn't a trumpet. The sound you heard in the solo was Fats Domino singing using a wah-wah vocalization technique. Pretty neat.

  • @shordyinabox It was a person - Domino sang that.

  • Ah.. excellent song :)

  • @fenixwylde Thanks for commenting, glad you liked it.

  • Thank you for uploading this!!!! I've been looking for it for ages thanks a lot man :)

  • @MOVIEMANFAN No problem, glad I could post it.

  • The rock'n'roll begins

  • @Icnon Yep, Mr. Domino was one of the ones that got the ball rolling.

  • That name always gives me the creeps. FAT MAN. It was the nickname of the atomic bomb dropped over Nagasaki, Japan in August 1945!!! Go figure.

  • The original Fat Boy

  • @Carthsting don't call him fat, you little twig boy

  • @jaroncreed Hehe, well he called himself fat. One of the greatest of all times.

  • @Carthsting Can't beat the Fat Man, he can belt out a tune and such excellent piano too.

  • Wonderful, the good Fats

  • @bsirken Fats is the man!!!

  • Fats Is Phat

  • Thanks for uploading this! It's probably my favorite Fats Domino song!

One of the earliest rock and roll records.

It sold over 1,000,000 copies after it came out in 1949, and is thought to be the first R&R to do so.

  • Thanks formcommenting, I like Fats, Thanks for the information on the record, too.

  • I love you for posting this

  • GO FATS GO

  • The Fat Man RULES! Thanks for commenting!
