  • I remember watching this video at a youth association tournament. This gave me inspiration to bowl great and I ended up placing in the top 5 in singles in my division.

  • Thumbs up if "Alley Cats Strike!" lead you to Guppy Troupe.

  • What in the world? Where's the Gupster we know and love?

As I was once told by him: He looks like a pro golfer in this.

  • By the way, Mika couldn't carry Guppy's bowling shoes.

  • @apodino: Minor league, as in, infrequently cashing; inconsistent performer; very house-sensitive / house-specific bowler... as well as an unwelcome distraction if bowling on the pair next to you. Minor league.

  • A minor league pro almost besting Mark Roth with a hard rubber three-dot! I love what this game used to be.

  • @20alphabet Guppy Troup wasn't a minor league pro. He was a very good bowler back in the day. Not quite a Mark Roth, but think Mika Koivuniemi.

  • where was the 1984 us open located at

  • wow he had hair in this vid lol i know guppy personally good man great bowler lol totally unmatched dresser at times lol

  • Mark Roth = greatest cranker of all time period

  • who won the king louie open tournment

  • @sjfinchum Gary Skidmore, I believe. The video is on here somewhere.

  • Mark Roth is the greatest bowler alive next to Brent Gallagher

  • Mark Roth always reminded me of Jackie Mason from Caddyshack.

  • where was the 1984 us open located at?

  • @aranere It was classy and exciting at the same time.

  • ahhhh.. when bowling still had dignity and a soul and didn't resemble the wwf.

  • @whirlawaysteven I can relate to that. It isn't about shot making anymore. Now it's about who can rev the ball the most and hook the dog-shit out of the ball. I remember when people played the oil line almost as though there was a ditch. Anymore a lot of people will just crank it from four or fifth board and trying to keep it from hooking high by throwing it harder.

  • WOW! by the end of this pt 1 video, guppy had the upper hand by far.

  • Guppy is definitely the only "blind" bowler ever to make tv.

  • wasn't Ernie Schlegel legally blind also?

  • didnt know intil now that big ern in the king pin movie is based on guppy troup

  • you also might want to take a look at Pete Cotoure. Maybe a mix of both, with some marshall Holman personality mixed in.

  • What a classic match up! I mean, who knew Mark Roth ever faced Dr. Strangelove? Out of his wheelchair no less. :-)

I kid. Thanks for the videos.

  • Guppy is a great guy. Me and his son, Kyle, are pretty good friends. He moved up to adult rankings though, but we still keep in touch. Guppy is really freindly.

  • isnt kyle a two handed bowler?

  • yea kyle is two handed

  • ive actually met guppy quite a few times cause he lives only a few hours from my house and him and his sons travel all the time to different tournaments. guppys a really cool guy and great bowler, also his son kyle is pretty dadgum good to lol

  • I got to meet Guppy Troup back in 1997 in Hawaii. I also got to meet Dick Weber. I still have both of their autographs on the same pin.

  • Man...Thank You for posting these videos of Guppy Troup bowling. He was bowling out of Jacksonville, FL at Classic Lanes, where I working when I was 16-17 years old and he is a really nice person. He has great form and is a great champion.

  • roth was the original cranker.... and great to hear Schenkel and Bo Jr...

  • i'm 50 and i had one before dick weber had his name on it, with my green manhattan rubber.

  • That's the one.

My dad had one, and if I recall it had Dick Weber's signature on it, so that's what I was remembering. lol

  • AMF 3 Dot Classic

  • I was about to ask what ball Guppy was using when Bo answered it. Looks like an old Dick Weber 3-dot.
