Even though technically I'd still be Jewish because of maternal descent, I went to a Reform Synagogue and preformed a full conversion. A combination of genetic evidence that shows a bottleneck in the population, and metaphors that have a good message in their time and place are what made me choose to practice Judaism again in my family.

@endthedrugwarvision I'm not financially vested in anything. My great-grandmother on my mothers-mothers-mother is Jewish and my parents practiced Catholicism. Even though technically I'd still be Jewish because of maternal descent, I went to a Reform Synagogue and preformed a full conversion. A combination of genetic evidence that shows a bottleneck in the population, and metaphors that have a good message in their time and place are what made me choose to practice Judaism again in my family.

One does not have to believe in Judaism to be jewish or be of the descendants of the jewish tribe to be jewish. I am tribally Ojibwa,but I don't believe in their spirits or gods.
