Anyways, I'm stuck in a dilemma, and was wondering if someone could help me out: I'm 21 and he's 43.... we've been on 4 awesome dates, but we met online, and have known each other for almost a year now. Reciprocated. As if we’re sharing the time/moment together as a unit rather than two separate individuals. As if it’s an enjoyment-mirror reflecting back. Of course, you need to be simpatico together (a cohesive bonding or attraction) or it won’t work. I can tell we enjoy each other through things like flirting back and forth, and expressions (eye contact, smiles, laughs, etc.).
2.) Feeding my ego, as the Doc suggests, won’t work – because I’m confident enough already and may “feel patronized” (although some guys may like it? – narcissists or insecure guys???). Guys don’t love compliments – girls do. So if a girl says I’m a handsome guy, or something, I don’t care too much (that appears to be more of a girls trait).
Personally I see a correlation between gay men, one tend to become curious about a guy if he compliments you but also tend to lose interest if the compliment doesn’t fit or there is too personal for the type of relationship. (And if someone only wants another attention for personal gain, they will love interest anyway)

i agree with you. so i guess what to do is to flatter his ego until you get all what you want. of course you'll eventually get tired feeding his ego. so you dump him so he can learn to handle his insecurities... in that way, you are actually helping him.
