This is flippin' amazing! Saw it last night at the Alamo Drafthouse on 6th street, downtown Austin, TX. They were showing Fright Night 2 on Terror Tuesday, and they played this before the film! If you mean it's a remake the way Carpenter's "The Thing", Cronenberg's "The Fly", or even Snyder's "Dawn of the Dead" did something totally different and inspired, then no, not by a long shot.  the new Fright Night makes the Platinum Dunes horror remakes look inspired.
