  • I want to cry.

  • I personally think TV is better today than it was 30+ years ago.

  • 1969 I was 5 and we in London ON had abc, nbc, wqln, cbc, ctv, a couple of local stations, cfpl, chch. . . .always remember the "mod squad"

  • Back then it was sweet and almost innocent. Some of the shows were campy but the talent pool was fantastic compared to the no-talents on TV today.

  • If they made television programmes in the same manner today ,i might reconsider using a tv set again .

It feels strange.Today you see more effects ,but everything is so cold ,or unnatural that it just gets annoying at some point .Things have to be in some sort of a balance.Good effects and people with talent and charm .Something just seems to be missing in television now.Nice soothing melodies ,grabbing characters ,so many things i just miss .

  • I haven't seen "Divorce American Style" in about 35 years! Very nostalgic seeing this!

  • "KHAAAAN!"

  • WOW!!! What a time it was. Back when we 'only' had three major networks. If you count ch.5 ( wnew-5) , ch.9 (wor-9), and pix-11 thses were the only stations we had in the New York City area. But we made out alright.

  • 0:44 mmmmmm, Joey Heatherton laying down. I think I just spilled my milkshake LOL

  • I still cherish the days when we actually had movies/shows on television instead of the present 'Reality' Crap. I checked an internet list & there have been over 1,500 Reality Shows so far.I have never seen ONE. Seriously, I have never sat & watched one & I never will.Reality shows don't use scriptwriters/story writers/casting directors or any person that would be used to make something of 'Quality'. But Americans are fairly stupid now so as long as they watch crap they'll keep pumping it out

  • I believe you mean "THE SATURDAY SUPERSTAR MOVIE", 'Neville'. Yes, the "Lassie" and "Brady Kids" hour-long pilots DID become Saturday morning series on ABC, as well as "Yogi's Ark Lark" {the pilot which became "YOGI'S GANG" the following season}. I believe it was Screen Gems' decision not to publicize the fact that Dick Sargent was replacing Dick York on "BEWITCHED" in the fall of '69. They wanted a smooth, quiet transition, with very little viewer reaction- or possible objections...

  • @ 2:25 <3

  • I would absolutely love it if they did a half-hour promo like this for this year's season (2010 ABC Fall Preview)...*sigh*

  • I said it on part one....they did take a lot of pride in the shows they put out for people to watch....major shame they do not do that now

  • NOSTALGIC

  • GAWD, TV used to be so much fun!

  • I love the college football slide of AL Crimson Tide vs TN Vols.

  • I wonder if there is anyone who sells these old promos

  • Omar Shariff as a german general? god love abc !!

  • Actually, the most interesting promo was for ABC News. Take from that what you will.

  • LOL

"... Hey HOMBRE ... heh heh heh ... I'm a cleeeshayed TV Mexican bandit!"

  • lee majors before he became rebiult

  • The Ballad Of Andy Crocker was cutting edge film about the war in VietNam which was still going on.

  • On the subject of "Bewitched", it's interesting in this ABC fall promo for the 1969 - 1970 season, they totally didn't mention the fact that Dick York's Darrin was to be replaced with Dick Sargeant's Darrin. Interesting thing about this promo..

  • Pretty funny to think 40 years later, the only show that made it big in syndication and people remember is the Brady Bunch!!!(and maybe That Girl)

  • What about "Bewitched"? I think it might have made it bigger in syndication than either of those two shows!

  • And btw, "Bewitched" (along with the "Brady Bunch") is the only two of the shows that was turned into a later feature film (motion picture), none of the other shows had including, "That Girl". I think that alone makes "Bewitched" rather memorable.

  • a total childhood flashback sans acid

  • 1969 also featured the best graphics package in the history of the network.

  • The Movie Of The Week was the best. Douglas Trumbull design the opening and ending of the series. The typeface used was Peignot.

  • The imaging ABC did back in 1969 was ahead of its time............No doubt.

Imagine if this was done in the high-definition/dolby surround sound we have today.................Of course, color was the big deal back in the 1960s.

  • "Meet Us In September" and "The Movie Of The Week" had great graphics. The latter was designed by Douglas Trumball who did "2001:A Space Odyssey"

  • "The Ballad Of Andy Crocker" was a film that deals with a VietNam war veteran trying to adjust to civilian life.

  • an idea that was really risky for back then! Good for them.

  • That was great idea about Andy Crocker: VietNam War vetran

  • I'd hate to think how much of that highly promising lineup, day or night, was summarily pre-empted or tossed to a UHF that would choke on only getting seconds as affilitates then seen to be fickle about carrying ALL the network shows, especially if they didn't like someone in it or just the show...ratings weren't the main factor then as now.

This may have been ABC's biggest problem. Getting really good affiliates or just being too stingy to give one out.

  • Very nice to see what ABC was like the year I was born. Thank you for posting this!

  • Strangers In The Night was the working title for "The Pigeon", The Ballad Of Corporal Crocker was the working title of "The Ballad Of Andy Crocker".

  • Some of the ABC "MOVIE OF THE WEEK" presentations were actually 90 minute pilots for potential series; "The Ballad Of Andy {Corporal} Crocker" was supposed to launch an Aaron Spelling series, "CORPORAL CROCKER", but ABC passed on it. Ditto Spelling's "The Over-The-Hill Gang", despite a 1970 sequel...

  • @fromthesidelines: The ABC Saturday Movie was supposed to do the same thing, only it succeeded at doing so (the Lassie movie became a TV show, as did the Brady Bunch animated movie !)

  • 4:23 Paul Newman, R.I.P.

  • Hombre features two oscar winners. Paul Newman and Frederick March.

  • This brings back so many memories!!!! Love Tom Jones on here!!!!!!!!!!

  • great seeing these.
