It's good to see a voice calling for calm between Hackney's various ethnic communities. The BNP, the EDL and certain vain historians who should know better have been setting the case for an understanding of the riots based on race rather than poverty. Don't get me wrong, I'm no apologist for the thuggishness and violence we've all seen. I'm just saying that I live in Liverpool and most of the rioters I saw were white lads from North Liverpool. Plus if you watch the video, they are not condemning the shop owners who defending their premises or community.
