  • Murray Head's version destroys this crap

  • She sounds too happy. I like the darker undertones of Murray Head's version.

  • Had this album for years, but never saw the video before. Thanx!

  • What a voice. She's incredible.

  • THIS is just GENIUS!!!

  • 0:57

  • I'm not gonna knock this video for being weird because a song like this practically demands such weirdness.

  • friday the 13 series .......

  • Asian people don't find this song offensive?

  • It's Robin Sparkles!

  • For me, just an excellent cover. Actually I always consider this the female interpretation of this song, so for myself, it isn't a cover at all:-)

  • I dropped many loads when i was in my teens, watching her on Friday the 13th the series...

  • Any chance of fixing the horizontal squeezing of this video, and the slightly out of sync audio?

  • Hangover 2 brought me here.

  • always loved this version.... she was a true 80'sgal!

  • I'm not sure that's her real voice!! Sounds like a British singer

  • @rerevisionist louise robey was born in montreal to a british mother an american father and he was stationed all over the world. So growing up lousie spent time in london, paris, and canada so her voice reflects that.

  • @22centman36 - Hm, OK. I think I saw an interview, and she sounded very American. So the English voice sounded not to fit. But OK it's prefectly possible.

  • This woman married Charles Burford/ Beauclerk, a leading authority on the Oxfordian theory of Shakespeare. Unsurprisingly perhaps, they divorced ater.

  • the best version is from Mike Tyson from HANGOVER part II :-D

  • I didn't realize she had a singing career. I thought she was just a Canadian TV Actress

  • @cyberlucy back in the 80's , at least in canada, they would kind of try actresses out ina variety of venus to see which one stuck. Vanity was also given a movie carrier, same thing with alanis morrestte. In american however, a person could onyl be a singer or tv artists or film artist and not all three. That changed of course over the decades which top artists tring their hands at everything they can to make money.

  • @22centman36 Thanks. Here in America I only remember her from the syndicated series "Friday the 13th

  • IMHO the version of Murray Head is much better

  • looks so much like heather graham sometimes

  • the best version for me...robey is special...

  • @TheRexmoon I agree; Roby nailed this. I mean, Murray Head is cool, but something about Robey's version feels good to me!

  • @gluserty yeah , my friend..robey got something that make feel so good..her sweet voice and the way she perform..sounds great and sensual..

  • @TheRexmoon That's great; sounds like your friend has a gifted voice!

  • Girl STOP! Murray's version is better! lol

  • Robey made this song SEXY lol

  • damn thats an awesome version!

  • i like, but it's murray head by a mile!

  • I always wondered what was the point of having two versions of this song out at the same time. Especially one as awful as this one

  • She's hot by original song is better :p

  • His accent is very British

  • She just friended me on myspace mmm

  • this is by far my favorite version of this song.

  • @Kinkryder8 ~ Mine too!

  • I heard this version about two weeks before I heard the Murray Head version. Robey's pronunciation is SO Canadian. (I liked her TV show, too.)

  • I have a funny feeling she'll be remembered more for her performance in the Friday the 13th series

  • Funny fact: The first time I heard this version was when a drag queen lip-synch'd to it at a gay club called "Tracks" in Ybor City ("Tampa" for those non-Floridians) back in 1989! Loved it (the song) then and love it now...

  • @GoGoFiasco eww

  • @PhuckHue2 LOL! It wasn't THAT bad, lol....

  • she is so hot..still looks good today...i loved her hair and she was amazing in Friday the 13th the series...which was a pretty cool TV show to boot.......

  • I loved Robey in Friday the 13th Tv series!! I love this song!!

  • Never heard of this version before today. Hope I never hear it again.

  • Original = better

  • @AetherEthereal Technically this is the original music video of the song, it was released six months earlier than Murray Head's version, this version had lack luster success while Murray's became a global sensation.

  • @MachineKing1313 Interesting. In that case, Murray's version is better. :D

  • I love the video !

  • Wow, Flatulence1. Your name does you justice, because you're totally farting out of your mouth. They were supposed to be in America. She couldn't grow as an actress into the Standard American from her World Accent? Go drink your haterade elsewhere, beetches. This version RULES. And I'm a chick, so you can't use that 'for the dudes' argument here. Suck it.

  • Louise is not American...she went to schools mainly in Scotland... St Lennards and many English boarding schools throughout europe...Her mother is Scottish and her father is English having grown up in India under the Raj... the hard work for her is trying to sound American...she is truly English but was born in Canada and carries dual citizenship...

  • As a fan, I understand that she's lived all over the world. I thought her accent on the show was charming, personally. It made sense because her character came from money and her accent gave one the indication that she went to finishing school. So when people start ragging on the accent I have to argue. It made perfect sense to me. Anyhoo.

  • Damn I can JAM to this! Louise is my QUEEN!!!!!

  • the best singer in the world! the wonderful Louise Robey!!!!

Louise's singing this really blows Murry fathead out of the water! Murry Who???

  • As I recall, Head played the stereotypical "Ugly American" character in the play "Chess," and does the song in character. It took a very long time, however, to hit Broadway.

Louise sings this song so well that it was inevitable that hers would be the huge dance hit it was. This is also why Louise's "One Night In Bangkok" was an international hit... she ads a degree of class to the track and still conveys the message of the Chess character.

  • is is the better version of "One Night in Bangkok," and the video is better as well.

I like the way Louise approached the tone of the song, which makes her performance of it a bit more edgy.

  • Do you give Murray Head...this was written as a show tune and became a blockbuster dance hit world wide you dickwad..

    Murray is waiting for you...!

  • seems odd that you would pick on a world famous CULT CLASSIC that was done about the time you might have been learning to dance...This was written by ABBA and ABBA's lawyer gave the track to Louise to do her own version... huge concensus says she wins... anyway she has a gorgeous 5 octave range and this song was written to be spoken

  • I like this version better than the Murray Head one, but to each their own...

  • loved her in those tight sweaters on friday the 13th. I can understand the lyrics better but this feels too much like being in a bizzarre parrelel universe...

  • @ralan40 its supposed to.

  • Love Robey

  • Gotta love canadian girls.

  • Wish I had that hair.....

  • Truly hilarious video -- incorporates every dreadful 80s video cliche known. Wow.

  • what a hot piece of ass. I had a huge crush on her back then. gotta love the big hair

  • @PhuckHue2 she sure is attractive; really nails the concept of this song:-)

  • I'm not sure about the vocal talents of Robey, but I think the song has a good beat and bassline.

  • It is truly awful. She was in Friday 13 - one of my fav shows (and you can find on this site btw). She's from Montreal, left for Briton, married an Lord and then divorced him. I think the worst part is the phony british accent at the begging, she then looses it. Good looking woman though.

  • Wow, this version is awful compared to the original. To each their own though. I just happen to think Murray Head's version is infinitely better

  • @Homer79163 i.e. the original. Robey just kinda chicked it up.

  • Louise Robey sings this version. She was also in Friday the 13th: The Series on TV

  • Yuk!!!!

  • tnx! my favorite version of One Night in Bangkok!

  • @4tom2u me too!

  • @4tom2u mine too!
