thnx aunty for such an easy n delicious recipe. i was worrying how can i make it without Khoya but yet it turned out gud. i just added 3 tps of FULL CREAM MILK POWDER at the end n that was superb!!
Just a quick question, can i add cardamom powder with the butter in the start for better flavor than adding it in the end, please let me know! Thanks aunty :)

manjula jee your recipes are realy easy to make ...im not indian but love some of indian dishes ... and you r helping me so much trough your recipes... so thanks for that...by the way i made gajar ka halwa today and was realy good
Manjula aunty, i luved ur receipe, i juz have one question. When u boil the milk in the microwave oven for 5 minutes also, it starts coming up. i mean it comes up before it completes a minute. So how do i boil it for 20 minz every 5 mins?..
thanks sooo much manjula jiii . . .. i tried to make besan ke laddoo yesterday and they came out really good plz keep on making more recipes and could u show us how to make chicken biryani ?
Manjula aunty rocks! I am from Pakistan and live in Czech Republic. Living away from family for the first time is a challenging task specially when it comes to cooking. I tried Bengan recipe first, came out good. Now I am planning to cook this one. I am very optimistic because i tried it at friend's house few weeks ago and it was almost a disaster. Now I know we were not supposed to add milk in the beginning. Thanks alot.
I'm gonna go cook this here tomorrow... Hope it comes out good! I've just heard about gajar ka halwa and i got to taste it 2 weeks ago and i just fell in love with it!
Aunty i have a party coming up on saturday..Is it ok if i cook this dish on friday itself , keep in refrigerated and then on saturday warm it up in oven before serving?? My doubts are because of milk that is used ..will it ruin the dessert if used this way ?
Thank you for this video! I've tried it and it worked out well. I made a little variation: Instead of cashews I used sliced almonds and I added some dried dates before the sugar. It became pretty sweet, so beware how much sugar you add! Don't push it too far. ;-) Another thing: I used almost 1/3 less milk than carrots and it took a while to get out the liquid. Maybe I've done it wrong, but next time I'll use less milk. For all those who are in doubt: it works as well! ;-) Tastes great! Thx!
awesome Manjula aunty.. I like the idea of m'wing the milk instead of stirring it for ever :) wil def. try to make my gajar halwa like this.. looks delicious.. thanks:)
Manjula, I am going to learn Indian cooking thanks to you. Your videos inspire me because I LOVE Indian food. There is a sweet dish I really love made from Carrots (I think) and is more like a cake than this pudding. Do you know what I am talking about? I asked the woman who ran the restaraunt, but she had far more trouble with English...and I speak no Hindi at all!
Thank you for your work, sharing the foods you love.
amazing dish,i made it for the first time in my life using your receipe,it comes incredible.my husband likes it so much.just few and handy ingredients makes it so easy. thank you so much.
what a nice simple recipe! thanks for sharing, I may try this, although I'm vegan so I'll replace the butter with coconut or olive oil. I read once in ayurvedic medicine that coconut oil is not good for eating - have you heard this, and do you have any thoughts on it?
I posted a video of a simple healthy and vegan dish I make with carrots and cannellini beans with a cider glaze if you want to try a western-style dish some time!
@healthyvegan i am also vegan - i would recommend to use a margarine (earth balance if you are in the usa, vitalite if in the uk). this is because the emulsifiers present in the margarine will keep the halva together. i've used regular bottled oils in making halvas before and it is no good, the oil separates from the dish almost immediately. suji (semolina halva) is also good and easy to make and doesn't even require milk!
antie , I love this video.. Autie you have taught me how to prepare many indian dishes for my family, becuase I grew up in the west, thank you..... muaaahhhh kisses <3
Hi Manjula, thank you so much for putting this recipe online. I'd love to try it since you make it look so easy, but I'm not sure I understand the part with the milk in the microwave. Wouldn't the milk boil and spill over if you heat it for that long? Is there another way to achieve the same result?
Auntee Jee you are soooooooooooooo sweet just like your Halwa :-) The microwave tip for the milk is a very good way to have the best texture for the halwa. Pay Lagoo Auntee keep up the good work !
Dear Aunty,i tried out this recipe for the first with the help of your video as this is my husband's fav,THANK U SOOOOOOOOOOOO VERY MUCH for making this recipe so simple,it came out perfectly and MY HUSBAND LOVED IT (he also took it to his office n his friends loved it as well) I received alot of compliments from his friends also. Will certainly have a look at ur other recipes as well. THANKS ALOT ONCE AGAIN...God bless...Pls keep up the good work....

Manjula, My neighbor who is Indian made this for me and I loved it....What type grater do you use for the carrots? Does it matter how big the shred is? Also, If I want to double the recipe, could I just use a larger pan?

Hi Manjulaji - Thank you so much for posting such a delicious recipe of Carrot halwa.....I made it as a prasad for Saibaba and it came out so deliciously and the credit goes to u..this is the first time I am making it...I never really tried earlier on because I always wanted it to come out the way it did when I followed ur recipe...Keep up the good work!!

Madam you are a superb cook and I can't tell how much my mother and I appreciate the various different videos of indo-pak cuisine you have posted. Thank you.
Thanks Majula Aunty!! Your recipe works. You are the best, better than any cook book. I made this gajar ka haluwa today and it turned out amazingly good!! :)!!!THANKS SO MUCH.
aunty ji i tried your recipe it is so so simple and sooooo delicious, i love your recipies, i also recommended your recipe to my sister in england who also like me loves halwa.thankyou, and keep the recipies coming
Manjula, I tried the recipe as you say but the carrots turned to mush. I think you're recommending double the milk this recipe needs. I boiled it in microwave for five minutes and it was already boiling over. I watched you pour the milk in your video and there is no way that is two cups. Looks like one cup and that is what I'll use next time. Thanks for the recipes!
Hi Aunty, Thanks so much for the receipe. I just grated carrot and needed a good guide to help me make my gajar halwa :) and there you were. I have tried your receipes earlier also and thanks so much for posting them. Makes life easier for non-cooking young ladies like me
hi..cant wait to try this! my friend told me wen she makes gajar halwa she adds eggs to it as it tastes nicer? can you do this?? will it taste nicer?? thanks
hey manjula thankyou so much for the receipe..its awesome...i will try it tonight. but wanted to know that since i dont have a microwave can i just put it in the carrots and then let it boil?
Could you use pumpkin or butternut squash in this recipe as a substitute for some of the carrots? (I've got spare pumpkin to use up at this time of year!)
aunty do i use 2 cups of milk also if i am using the stove to boil the milk or more milk?
and auntyji i have seen a white layer on this dish in a hotel....what is it?..khoya? and how do we add that on?....because that looked very very good!!
thank you so much for this recipe and all the other ones...I always say that to cook Indian food properly one needs to have seen an Indina mother do it. ...so here I now have my Indian mother in you....thanks so much.
Under your guidance made gajar ka halwaa n it was a success.... :) feel indebted for your recipe tips..the original flavors and easy to cook organized steps :) Thank you!

I think Manjula's method is the best as the
milk has already been "thickened" in the microwave before adding to the grated carrots...Congrats! And keep up the good work!
