@razbojnikxxx well, he wanted to be a member for two things: to be close to cersei (and rebel against his father in the same act) and to be the youngest member. i think thats a good reason why he said jaime didnt want to be kingsguard. he didnt want to protect the king or dress in white.

@razbojnikxxx He didn't exactly want to be a part of the KG, it was Cersei's idea that he become a KG instead of having to get married. About a month later Jaime was raised to the KG, which he later realised was because Aerys wanted to rob Tywin of his heir.

If you read the books u will recall when jaime went to riverrun and Lord hoster kept making seat next to lysa then when jaime went to KL to visit his sis she told him that Lord tywin was making arrangements to get him married to lysa. Then cercei told to join the kings guard so he could stay close.But that was a mistake tywin did not approve and left KL and took cercei back to the rock

Westeros is loosely modelled after ancient Europe and study the history of any medieval court and you will find all the same violence and political machinations.
