  • It's just called "The Victors"

  • HAIL TO THE VICTORS!! 4-0!! Ohio State need tressel to win!!

  • That also ranks Michigan as the best university in the Big 10, as it's ranked as the 15th best university in the world. Northwestern may have a more highly regarded undergrad program, being a smaller private school, but Northwestern is only ranked as the 26th best university in the world. Northwestern doesn't have nearly the number of top notch programs & the amount of top notch research that Michigan produces. Most of these small private schools don't except for the top Ivies.

  • According to US News & World Report, Michigan is ranked as the 15th best university in the world; Cal-Berkeley is 28th in the world; UCLA 35th in the world; Virgina 130th in the world among the world's best universities. Why are people only talking about the undergrad program at Michigan? UCLA is a good school. So is Berkeley, Michigan, & Virginia. But Michigan is ranked as the best American public university internationally.

  • GO BLUE!!!

  • Poor Michigan doesn't get much respect anymore. At one time the school was constantly ranked in the top 10 academically. And the once proud football program? They can't get so much as one blue-chip player to even look at the place.

  • @guyNbluejeans No public school is considered top 10 academically by USNews&WR anymore. Only Ivy League & other private schools are favored. That ranking favors private schools but doesn't necessarily define the best schools. I haven't seen any Nobel Prize winners from Harvard or Yale recently. Michigan is still among the top public schools in the nation. Michigan is still very respected academically. I was an undergrad at Michigan & attended grad school at Yale...an excellent education!

  • @Mar Oh my. I see that my post says "constantly" when I meant "consistently." But don't let that reflect poorly on U-M as I never attended the place.:-)

Wouldn't it be good if these folks that study these things would look at what institutions have done regarding competitive contests? That would go a long ways toward some meaningful point factors in the practical world. I saw one recent competition relating to computer programing and Michigan placed 2nd in the world!

Let me know if U want me..

  • @guyNbluejeans Michigan will be back! Michigan is still the "winningest" program in college football & has 11 national championships on its resume. For anyone who knows college football history, Michigan football history IS college football history. Blue chip players that choose inferior academic institutions like Alabama, Florida State, Auburn, etc aren't interested in a quality education anyway. My Michigan undergrad education enabled me to get into Yale grad school. That's RESPECT! lol

  • @MarquisdeSade821 Cool comments, my Friend!

Might you be so kind to say whether or not Michigan is as academically stout as the vaunted Yale University (since you attended both:-)?

Btw, let me know if you want me to find the link to that world computer competition that Michigan to 2nd place in recently.

  • @guyNbluejeans Yeah, Michigan is still among the top public institutions in the nation. The best are still Cal-Berkeley, Virginia, UCLA, and Michigan. Yes, the USN&WR ranking of undergrad programs is set up to favor small private schools. That's all. However, according to USN&WR ranking of the best universities in the world, Michigan is ranked as the 15th best university in the world. In USN&WR's ranking of top world universities, MIchigan is the best public university in the USA! lol

  • @iluv Cal doesn't even have a medical school so while they're for sure a wonderful University, I'd have to say that's a rather glaring negative (though I'll add the dude that took over the chunnel project after the Europeans turned it into a mess was a Cal engineer that got things straightened out -- on time and on budget!).

One thing that bothers me is this business that anyone could think UCLA is a better institution than Michigan. I'm not God, but, Michigan has always been regarded better..

  • @guyNbluejeans The bottom line is that Michigan is well respected as an excellent academic institution internationally & ranked as 15th best of all the universities in the world according to USN&WR. In fact, Duke took 14th place ahead of Michigan by only 0.1 of a point. Michigan is the only public school in the US ranked among the top 20 universities in the world! So much for Cal-Berkeley, UCLA, & Virginia. lol

  • @iluvfirenze89 I just checked that US News & World Report rankng of the top universities in the world. Yes, Michigan's ranking as the 15th best university in the world reflects how highly regarded the programs are at UM as well as the abundance of top notch research produced by the institution. That's more of a valid indicator of what an excellent academic institution UM is.

  • @iluvfirenze89 Gosh, it makes my Maze and Blue blood move way more smoothly through my veins to learn such a thing!

To add to Michigan's pluses, they're constantly spending a lot of big dough adding improvements to the plant and maintaining the whole glorious thing. Money shortage is not an issue there.

  • @guyNbluejeans Let me put it this way. If you can do well at Michigan academically, you're capable of doing well in any grad or professional program. That includes Yale grad school. lol It depends on your major, but Michigan undergrad is academically rigorous. I relatively struggled my 1st year at UM, and there were far too many distractions like Michigan football (lol). However, when I focused & became more disciplined, I excelled. Honestly, Yale grad school was easier for me.

  • @MarquisdeSade821 Cool to hear!

My only affiliation with the University was waaaaay back in '65 when I was 8 and 9 years of age living in a couple of state-run facilities for kids that came from screwed up homes. Sometimes the college kids, in that last place I was in there in Ann Arbor, would have some U-M tickets for us kids that wanted to get out behind the steel doors and thick screens to see football games. THAT was great fun!

  • it sounds like there are kazoos in the band from this video at :23 :D

  • go blue!!!!!

  • go trumpet!
