  • For the record, I love the 240 just as much as the next guy. It's too fun and easy to shoot to ever lose its special place in my heart.

  • Don't get ur panties in a bunch guys. I never said the m240 was garbage. But when u can lug around a 7.62 MMG, fire it from the shoulder (accurately), have it weigh less, and still b employed by one person (not 2 or3), it's a damn improvement. You can mount machine guns all damn day and they're interchangeable in their employment. But for the grunt on the ground, weight means something. SBF positions, up guns on vehicles, defensive positions, give me an M240. But for patrolling through the bush

  • I would still rather have a 240L.

  • god thats sexy....cept its a damn saw platform grr, jam jam jam........fuck it lets make it 7.62 mofuckers

  • ASIF a m240 shits all over a mk- 48. Saying its a huge improvement offends me, the M240 is possibly one of the greatest MG's in the world. Yes the mk-48 uses 7.62 so does the m240 with a higher accuracy in comparison. Im not sure on the reliability of this gun but the m240 is beast!

    Long live the M240!

  • @junkrat1 Hell yeah. As a guy that weighs 150lbs and has had to carry a 240B multiple times, I'd say it's worth the weight. I wasn't scared of shit when I had that monster slung in front of me because I knew it would shoot every time I pulled the trigger and it would hit anything within 1,000 meters.

Best weapon the military has bought.

  • Well I mean not defensive but more of like something heavy or medium.

But hey it's till a good weapon to use.

Basically it's the operator's choice on what machine gun he prefers the "most" in combat operations from my point of view.

  • an improve of the GPMG? t looks like an improvement of the SAW, i also didnt know they were in operational service O_0

  • the big brother of the Mk46 :)

  • say how fast does the barrel on one of those babies overheat? just a little curious

  • But RenegadeArms09 but I do agree with you. Bring down that terrorist loving bastard osama ahem I mean Obama.

  • hahaha dumbass people these days like RenegadeArms09.

Go back to crappy COD and seriously? The FN Mk. 48 is primarily only meant to fire 7.62x51mm NATO rounds. No 6.8x43mm SPC ammo. And this guy ladies and gentlemen plays too much overrated videogames. Please do not make useless comments which are wasting my time.

  • This may seem like a stupid question, but if you removed the bipod at the front could you attach the H&K m320 (not m203)?

  • my penis makes that sound

  • tapper45 I may be 16, I play around and train with weapons a lot, primarily......blades or combat knives. Ever heard of Filipino Kali or heard some good counters in Shaolin Kung Fu? It's really useful, even when using a melee weapon or not.

I picked up this gun, sure it is heavy but I got the hang of it. But I never held a 249

  • @LilATL94 And this ladies and gentlemen, is called a POSER :)

  • Primarily 240s are great for "defensive" ops because if your on offensive operations, you really don't wanna carry around a heavy machine gun like the M240.

Gotta love weapons meant for Special Operations. It's just keeps getting better and more badass.

Love it when the SEALs (a.k.a. blade/knife users) field these weapons.

  • @LilATL94

some of us aren't 16 year old kids who can't pick up a 240 and i can imagine you not wanting to carry one because it's too heavy.

it isn't a spec ops weapon either. damn near every unit in the army has them, along with 249, mk 19, m9 and m4.

why is it that you "love" it when these weapons are" fielded"?

couldn't you just appreciate it, or maybe even just have a warm thought?

what the hell is wrong with you.

if i ever gave you a tour of our arms room i would show you the stapler

  • @LilATL94 you are wrong about it being defensive, the british army use this all the as standard in any type of operation, and its a medium machine in our standards as weell :P

  • can civilians get full auto versions of those?

  • Is the 240 used as an saw ever?

  • @Roflzmahwoflz no, it's too heavy and immobile. We only used for watchstanding and small craft engagement

  • @theheatofthemoment Hmm. So its completely impractical for a guy to be carrying a 240 anywhere unmounted right?

  • @Roflzmahwoflz it's impractical for an operator to try and run around with a 240 like you run with a SAW. Most of our 240s were unmounted but we didn't really move anywhere with them. They weigh more than M60s and they're 4 ft long. It's like carrying a midget

  • @Roflzmahwoflz

don't listen to the 120 pound retards on here.

the 240 is used as a saw. they are interchangeable on the battlefield.

the simplified difference is that they are different caliber, different weight and different range.

they are used mounted and dismounted on vehicles and at checkpoints, traffic control points and entry control points as well as dismounted during team, squad and platoon movement.

overwatch and security etc. there's a sling point on a 240 for a reason.

  • Thumbs up if the MK.48 kicks ass

  • Nothing quite says "FUCK YOUR SHIT!" like 50 rounds of 7.62 NATO delivered with haste.

  • WE WANT MORE !!!!

  • Looks like great recoil control. Does this kick less than the M240? i thought it was lighter

  • This gun is a favorite in the SOCOM game series lol

  • isn't the mk 48 just a m249 that shoots 7.62 essentially?

  • @iroc464 well yeah but they improved the reliability too

  • i still prefer carrying the 240 but the 48 was like carrying a baby down range nice and light

  • besides, the mk48 was made for "special operations" so @ metalhead960. your obivously not special ops so what do you care? you'll never see this weapon in the light of day.

  • @ksidemonslayer .......umm in not "special operations" and i carry a Mk48 every day in Afghanistan.....its lighter and less bulky than a 249 but carrying all the ammo really sucks

  • @swampfox1017 thats what ive been trying to say, is that the 249 is heavier than the mk48, the mk48 was made be a lighter more effective lmg so you can move around it with it alot more, in urban warfare your doing alot of moving and shooting cant stay in one place for too long, the saw works best stationary.

  • @swampfox1017 I was wondering how many rounds you carry around with you? Don't the rounds come in 100 round boxes? I don't know much about this sort of thing, but I always wondered what was the standard ammo amount a gunner carried.

  • nevermind. just saw the comment under it.

  • Yeah, and it's only thirty goddamn pounds. What's not to love?

  • The M240B is almost 30 pounds, that is. The Mk 48 is much lighter. If a spec war team is in a situation where they need the heavy, sustained fire of an M240, than they screwed up.

  • thats what alot of people think

they dont go around slitting people's throats like its vietnam. they wont fight in a pitched battle

first thing theyll do if they make contact is take a knee dump a mag and break contact.

  • no its better because its 10 pounds lighter, shoots the same rounds with the same power

  • you havent shot either so how the fuck should you know

  • Actually I have I'm a 240 gunner and and what I don't see anyone saying about the mk48 is actually how relible it's gana be I no that I can put 100000 rounds through my 240 with out having to replace anything in and from what I have read it only takes 15000 rounds before parts in the mk48 have to be replaced oh and by the way the 240 is gana be 20.5 pounds when the new 240lima comes out so i rather Cary a more reliable weapon that I no for a fact will hold up

  • ur 19 and obviously havent deployed yet.

we have a type of machine gun per every class

    249-LMG/AR

    240-MMG capable of LMG application

    M2HB/Mk19-HMG

nothing is getting replaced so you dont need to go talking down on our machinery

the 240 is here to stay, by design its probably the 2nd oldest weapon in our arsenal right now.

Even if the 48 does get issued, it'll go into the hands of the 0311s and not the MG gunners.

the 249 is still better than the IAR theyre planning to give us.

  • Well i don't know about the marines but I'm light infantry and I'm pretty sure within the next two years they will start phaseing the 240b for the 240L

  • the mk46 is a much better weapon than the m249, the m249 is old and has too much problems. we need a new lmg that is more depenable, same thing can be said for the m4. or in your case ur m16a4 mr.marine

  • As to M16A4 (or M16A2 for that matter) - it is quite reliable. Accurate and powerful (for its caliber) as well. Thinking that M16 and M4 is the same is a big mistake - although they look alike M4 has slight changes that lead to unreliability. But that doesn't mean M16 is unreliable.

  • okay first off never said the m16 and m4 are the same, not the exact same, ones a carbine made to be lighter, the m16 is no more fucking powerful than the m4, the 5.56 is a weak but accurate round. this fact has been stated time and time again by many people. caliber is what determines a weapons stopping power, that is the key into what makes a target drop or get back up again. the 7.62 knocks a person down verus the 5.56.

  • So I guess technical data and physics is a horse shit to you.

Why do you think I automatically suggest stopping power by saying "power"? The "power" that bothers me is the one with which a bullet can or cannot penetrate body armour. 5.56 or 7.62, you won't do jack shit once you got hit by it and it stuck or went through your body. You'd by laying on the ground breathing like a fish thrown out of water just like anyone else. If you have good body armour then you're right.

  • first off ur from motherfucking finland, i am american so i belive i have more hands on experince with both the m16 and m4 rifle than your bitch ass does. and no that tech data doesnt mean shit compared to "field data" you watch a haiji get hit 4-5 times with the 5.56 and still find some fucking way to limp off. and no my knowledge isnt based off the fucking russian vietnam, the m4 isnt worth shit in iraq and marines are the marines good for them if they like there piece of shit m16, keep it.

  • If you're American how come your English is so bad? Where do you really come from? For an American you're too americanophobic.

You keep repeating about M4 as though you were a parrott. What's your problem, can't you read? M4 sucks, M16 doesn't. Before you call something "piece of shit" I suggest you go and find some information on the matter or fire the rifle yourself and then make your claims.

Field data shows relative reliability of M16, why did you mention it in the first place, anyway?

  • @ksidemonslayer

the M249 isnt bad at all, you have to realize that its being replaced by a full auto mag fed carbine in some units, that is setting us back over 90 years in technology...so we're gonna count our blessings and love the M249 and trust it for as long as possible, we can only dream that the beaurocracy is overcome and we get some better weapons

  • its an alright gun but its not great by any means, at all the parts are all from the 80s so its old and outdated, needs a replacement but yeah i hear ya lol fucking politics.

  • MK 48 is as reliable as M240. Though M240 is probably more powerful than MK 48 the second one is lighter. Try to run and shoot with M240...

  • they both have the same bullet.

  • They do, but the muzzle velocity can differ depending on barrel lenght etc.

  • @ExClUr well, they're both 7.62 what would cause a variation in power besides that?

  • @xdoris10 barrel length can affect muzzle velocity ie: speed of the bullet, affecting power and accuracy of the machine gun.

  • its basically the same fucking gun... just diffrent size and weight. yes barrel does make a diffrence in terms of range and Accuracy and precision, it was made to fire the same calibier, and replace the m240, so why the hell would it be more powerful? just like with the m249 saw and the mk46, neither is more powerful than the other, same thing m16a2 and m4 neither is more powerful.

  • M16A2 is more powerful than M4. What you forget to take into account is the muzzle velocity that too depends on barrel lenght etc.

    E(kin) = 1/2 m*v^2

The same thing is with Mk 48 and M240, although I'm not quite sure which one is better due to lack of information on Mk 48 (e.g. barrel lenght).

  • the m16a2 is not more powerful than the m4, have you ever fired either rifle? the diffrence between the 2 is size and weight. other than that they are made up of 80% of the same exact parts. the m16a4 differs from the a2 model from the rails already being added to the rifle. the internals are the same. end of story, the m16/m4 is totally undependable ask any soldier who served in iraq or afgan,

  • The significant difference between M16 and M4 is their barrel lenghts that affect muzzle velocity which is a kinetic energy that is transfered into potential once the target is hit by the bullet. If you think there is no difference between a bullet with muzzle velocity of 10 m/s and 900 m/s... Difference between 975 and 910 is not that big but it is a difference. M16 is more powerful than M4 just like FN Fal is more powerful than AK-47.

  • I did ask people who claimed to be in the USMC about M16A4 - they're happy with it. I also personnaly know a guy from Canada who fired C7 (Canadian clone of M16A1E2). If you don't put it into acid nor hit walls with it it's perfectly fine.

Now I know that M4 is unreliable, stop putting it like "M16/M4", they don't belong together in this matter. Nobody is happy with M4, that's true. Yet M16 is satisfactory. Your suspicions are probably based on Vietnam case and Russian claims.

  • "claimed" thats were your wrong, your fucking finnish, stick to your countrys bs. its 2010 how the fuck do vietnam case and russian claims come into a discussion about the m4, which didnt exist back in the 60-70s. also the C7 is much diffrent from the m16a2. for the last fucking time the m4 is basically an m16, same cailiber and same fucking design using 80% of the same fucking parts. its just smaller for fucks say and lighter. hence a fucking carbine.

  • Well, you claim to be American, but everything about you tells me the opposite.

You were discussing M4 with yourself, I told you already that M4 does indeed suck and was talking about M16. Your inability to focus on what you read is your problem, not mine.

For the last time - firstly: mathematical axiom

    975 > 910

    Secondly...

  • Secondly... "the shorter barrel commands the lower bullet velocity, and this significantly decreased the effective range of the 5.56mm bullet. The M4 barrel and the forend rapidly overheat and the shortened barrel results in the shortened gas system, which works under greater pressures than in M16A2 rifle. This increases the rate of fire and produces more stress on the moving parts, decreasing the reliability"

Unless you write something constructive I will not reply.

  • do you have nothing better than to fucking keep bitching at me eurofag? lets face it, A ur not military your a finnish cunt (euro cunt) with no experince with firearms (american firearms) second your personal fucking opinions are diffrent from those from what you read out of GOOGLE stupid motherfucker go choke on some goddamn meatballs.

  • Information was not taken from google but from a site whose owner not only shot all the regular and most popular weapons (AK-47, AK-74, M16A1, M4, G 36 and many others) but also held in his hands XM-8. I'd rather trust his words than some ignorant wannabe's who has absolutely no knowledge about anything and is so eager to argue for sports and not argument's sake. You can believe whatever you want, troll, it won't change a thing.

And learn some proper English, "American".

  • exaclty "information" from another site? but ill bet you used google to find it? the xm8? who gives a shit about a weapon that fucking melts from overheating and another thing i never said belive my words. im just stating my opinions, your the one who wanted to come and spout fucking forumlas out and try and be all mr.high and mighty i think im king shit. bitch kiss my "american" ass EURO CUNT.

  • I didn't use google to find anything, the site I used as a source is known to me for more than four years, it consists a lot of information on weapons. Many of those weapons (well, mostly assault rifles) were shot by the owner.

I brought XM 8 as an example of the site owner's "long hands" and weight in this matter.

I don't give a crap if you care about what I say or not. You came here and wrote some stupid things to me that I have proven to be wrong with OBVIOUS things.

  • Answering to that crap you posted on my channel:

1.Islam is indeed full of crap. If you read more carefuly the information on my channel and did proper research you would know that I hate islam probably more than you do. But hey, your inability to read and understand the obvious is known to me from the M16 and M4 dispute. You know, I sometimes wonder about all this: we have muslims that I hate for all the good reasons and then we have arrogant, ignorant, uncapable of simpliest tasks guys like..

  • You hate islam but the world doesnt care. Dont say your thoughts online. I am enlisted in the Marines and I am muslim. Dont say this online or someone will find it and they will kill you. The wrong person that is. Dont let a group of terrorist morons "change" how you think about an entire group of people. I bet you will never tell a Muslim that in his face.

Anyways yea I dont like the M16 and M4. They dont have the good killing power like the AK47 and such. Good velocity though and accuracy...

  • World does care, it's just too afraid to admit it. Kissing asses was always so much easier.

Don't be trying to scare me with "honour killing", it won't work on me.

I can tell many things to people in their faces, especially if they deserve it. Although you're right - one must be extremely careful with muslims since they usualy stab in the back and come in numbers.

How about the reliability of M16? If you don't like it only because of its firepower maybe you'd be satisfied with SR-25...

  • I would rather just stick with a M249 SAW. It shoots the same ammo as the M4/M16 types but only a 200rd mag. Alot more firepower. I appreciate you responded like a civilized person rather than one of those loser rednecks that put crap here.

  • @ExClUr look at you still acting all high and fucking mighty, seriously you dont know shit about guns, now your trying to ramble about the sr-25 go back to fucking counter strike you silly ass faggot.

  • @ksidemonslayer Well, I don't know. It's you who desperately demands attention, actualy. What is wrong with me mentioning SR-25? You think it's inappropriate because it is characterized as a sniper rifle or you're just looking for an excuse to start a fight? Judging from our previous acquaintance you're totally incapable of reading and comprehending, so I'm not even sure you're aware of what I was discussing with ImperialUprising.

  • 2.. yourself. I always thought people of your kind would be on THEIR side. Maybe it's time for me to revision my weltanschauung?.. Or should I remain somewhere in the middle, surrounded by simpletons and cretins?

Anyway, you can be a good lad and do me a favour: convert to islam, it needs desperately more jackasses. We, the anti-islamofaschists do not need imbeciles among us, all you do is putting a shame upon us.

P.S. Unless you're native American or someone from Latin America, Russia...

  • 3..India etc. you're too an euro fag. Or I don't know, maybe your ancestors came from Mars. Your culture began with ours and went its own path. I have a supreme admiration for the USA but people like yourself make me feel a bit negative towards them. Maybe that's your goal, but perhaps you're such an arrogant bitch by your nature. Anyway, seeing what crap you write on my channel I have no other choice but to block you, since you can't write for shit, anyway.

  • I'd give my left nut to own a Mark 48.

  • you probably can if you know how??FNH make a damn good one and I would love to own a BAR!

  • what would be the price tag on that beauty?????

  • 10.5k or $10,500 dollars.....

  • lol a lot more than that buddy.

To put into perspective. an M240 according to "The Gun Store" in Las Vegas would run them $200,000

So military prolly cheaper but for commercial use or private citizen I'd say more or less closer to $50,000

  • Not hardly 20K for MK240 and maybe most 35 or 40 Grand for a MK48. Christ it's just Steel not some super competition Sniper Rilfe...Hell maybe 100K for a new .416 Barret rifle but 200K shit.... the thing ain"t made out of Gold.

  • I am not a gun expert but I have to say the MK48, M249, Daewoo K3, and the MG4 all look alike.

Obviously the specs of each gun is different. The noise of the MG4 is hella cool too.

  • well, te m249 IS a mk 46 (a scaled down mk48 that fires 5.56 x 45 NATO instead of a 7.62 x 51 NATO)

  • Sounds like the unzipping of the fly of Iblis himself!

  • bullstriker1992 , in looks they do look alike, but tehy are very diferent, the mk 48 fires a 762x51, the m249 fires a 556, but they are some what alike

  • and the Mk 46 is a trimmed down version of the M249. the 46 was out there too, but i didnt want to fire a SAW again. both are amazing machine guns when you consider the rate of fire and the ability to fire it acurately from the standing, let alone kneeling or prone.

  • @crashmc302 Are you a Navy SEAL?

  • @tokorev747777 Actually no the Mk48 fires the 6.8 round.

  • @tokorev747777 disregard that last comment, I was mistaken :P

  • Hey guys what is rate of fire of Mk 48? I heard 750 or 625 rpm

  • Are the Mk 46 and Saw 249 the same weapon ? sorry never got a closer look to them

  • I believe the Mk. 46 is an M249, shortened, and certain features removed for weight reduction.

  • ok, thx you.

  • This guy looks like a Marine From the MARSOC, is Marsoc use Mk48 ?

  • Nope, I'm not in MarSOC. I did, however, get to fire some SEAL weapons (Mk 48 included) while here in Iraq.
