@yutzwagon2 I'm pretty sure all the crab I've ever eaten has actually been Krab. I only eat the boiled kind on salad bars and the crab cakes that come in the shells (that are definitely not crab shells).

@Pokegirl1094985 Aaaaand you need males also for reproduction. That answer doesn't cut it. I'm guessing it has to do with slower reproductive maturity in females. You don't need as many females as you would need males I take it.

@Furrama you need males too but 1 male can fertilize plenty of eggs, more then his share, so you can remove a lot of males and the species will be fine (in theory)

I tried the crab cake recipe and they never turned out worth a shit. I think I used too much lemon juice and I also used chunk crab and some minced crab.

Alton! I love your videos, but you didn't do justice to the Dungeness. Maybe that's not a bad thing for us Westerners...

Just a few notes: There IS meat in the little leg segments and a quick cut with shears opens it. Dungees have 4 types of meat - the claw legs taste different from the other legs, then there's the body meat and you missed the fat on the inside top of the shell. And about the body meat; it's easy to break into segments and open - better than using a pick. Use a claw instead!

The Dungee looks pretty identical to the inside of the blue/baltimore crab. The meat in the tiny segments/top of the shell isn't worth the effort.

Blue Crabs are my favorite type of crabs. I was so happy to see them on the episode of good eats. I love the show.
