@NDRonin1401 - Excellent Adventure was released in '89 but it was filmed in '87, they had problems with it's release so there is a four/five year time gap between them, By the time EA was released it didn't seem like long for BJ to hit theaters. They probably started in on production as soon as Orion knew EA was a hit so it probably was in production while EA was still in theaters.

No, because they do that with most movie trailers. They will included footage that doesn't make it into the theatrical cut. Take the Iron Man 2 trailer. That depicted Tony Stark asking for a kiss from Pepper before jumping out the airplane for the Stark Expo. She kisses his helmet and throws it out. This was cut, but the scene is available in its entirety on the DVD.
