perhaps my all time favourite funk track this. not only is the energy so funky, but i just love the way they have hidden messages for marajunna and prostitutes in this song. absolute classic
@EitherEndofAugust. well greens is in reference to marijuana and chicken is in reference to hookers. aint greens in harlem is basically saying the guy cant cut a deal. when he cant get his thc fix he thinks he'll pass the time with the trim of a nice young broad down on the avenue but when he actually gets there, there all busy or holidaying in the bahamas. hope that explains it
I thought this song was a figment of my imagination...I asked people all over and no one knew what I was talkin' about...lol...my uncle played this when I was a little little girl....
@lytsac1 I was almost in the same state you were in... but I didn't grow up to this song, though I had put it on tape long ago, (maybe 14) , thanks to the radio. The tune was one of the many "unknown obscure funk"-labeled tunes that time had concealed in a corner of my room. I like when I find these gems by pure chance, so I can put some faces on them.
boom bap original rap......sick!

Nice groove.
