The strange thing about Moore is that he had a knee condition that made his running look odd and when his Bond runs it's usually a stunt double. You can see his awkward movement at 6.30 above, but it shows up more in 'Octopussy' just after he and one of the twin assassins fall off the train and hit the ground.
Apart from Barbara Bach's rather wooden performance, I think this is a great one. Stromberg and Jaws are good as is Carly Simon's theme song. I don't miss John Barry as much I do in LALD either.
I quite often find the build up in bond films more enjoyable than the climax. The way Stromberg gets killed is just like bleh nothing, now he's dead. This happens all to often, it's not just how they die but how significant it's made to feel and it doesn't here. The film also comes in just two colours blue and yellow. But anyhow I still love it
The revival began here. Moore is perfect in the role now, totally being him rather than mimicing anything Connery did. And the combination of cars, girls, locations etc hadn't been this good for ages. Stromberg and Jaws are both memorable and it's the first girl who's Bonds equal (although I'd come to hate this in later films). It feels lavish and cinematic as well and the musics great dispite being by someone else. I still don't like the film as much as some but I have to give it an 8
Roger isn't playing Bond he's just playing Moore as he did in The Saint and The Persuaders. 9 out of 10? more like 1. This one and Moonraker are just re-makes of You Only Live Twice. I'm looking forward to your review on Moonraker as in my opinion it is the worst Bond of the lot. By this time the Bond movies were appealing to kids with low attention spans and even stealing ideas from the Dean Martin Matt Helm movies. They had become expensive jokes.
this film is so good. one of the best
